Original chromolithographed pictorial paper wrappers with title and imprint on front wrapper, along with the illustration "Jack & Gill" which is not repeat…ed inside; back wrapper with publisher's advertisement for: One Syllable Primer; Linen A.B.C. Book; Aunt Louisa's Big Picture Books; and New Pantomime Toy Books; spine fold with a 2" split at the head and a 3" split at the tail, otherwise with minimal wear for what is a bright, clean copy of the book. [16] pp. including wrappers. A collection of nursery rhymes illustrated throughout with black and white drawings within text, however the highlights of the book are four verses illustrated with chromolithographed metamorphic plates. These four verses are Curly Locks; Tom, the Piper's Son; Jack and Jill; and A Farmer Went Trotting. The metamorphic plates are pasted on the pages opposite each verse; each plate is scored down the middle to open like French doors revealing a new illustration beneath; internally the chromolithographed plates are in fine condition; text pages with minor spotting. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD -. Ten copies located on OCLC/WorldCat. RARE.
