Buch. Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book describes a powerful language for multidimensionaldeclarative programming called Lucid. Lucid has evolvedconsiderably in the past ten years. The main catalyst forthis metamorphosis was the discovery that Lucid is based onintensional logic, one commonly used in studying naturallanguages. Intensionality, and more specificallyindexicality, has enabled Lucid to implicitly expressmultidimensional objects that change, a fundamentalcapability with several consequences which are explored inthis book. The author covers a broad range of topics, fromfoundations to applications, and from implementations toimplications. The role of intensional logic in Lucid aswell as its consequences for programming in general isdiscussed. The syntax and mathematical semantics of thelanguage are given and its ability to be used as a formalsystem for transformation and verification is presented. Theuse of Lucid in both multidimensional applicationsprogramming and software systems construction (such as a parallel programming system and a visual programming system)is described. A novel model of multidimensionalcomputation--education--is described along with itsserendipitous practical benefits for harnessing parallelismand tolerating faults. As the only volume that reflects theadvances over the past decade, this work will be of greatinterest to researchers and advanced students involved withdeclarative language systems and programming.
