NDB XXII, 547. - Der im Nürnberger Exil entstandene Send-Brief des protestantischen Glaubenskämpfers Joseph Schaitberger (1658-1733) "wurde zum Hausbuch, das weit über den Salzburger Raum und das 18. Jahrhundert hinaus Verwendung fand" (NDB). "Er ließ (evangelische Traktate) zuerst einzeln als Flugschriften drucken (Schwabach 1688 ff.) und suchte sie in vielen tausend Exemplaren besonders unter seinen Landsleuten zu verbreiten. Zuletzt gab er sie (1710 zu Schwabach und Nürnberg) in einer Gesammtausgabe heraus unter dem Titel: `Neuvermehrter evangelischer Sendbrief .` Dieser `Sendbrief` wurde neben Luther`s und Spangenberg`s Postillen und Arnd`s wahrem Christenthum das liebste Erbauungsbuch der evangelischen Salzburger . und ist später z. B. Nürnberg 1732 u. ö., und bis in die neueste Zeit wiederholt gedruckt und als Erbauungsbuch auch in weiteren Kreisen verbreitet worden".
