No Binding. Zustand: Good. One inch old series map number 22 (Exeter). This map is undated and has no geological information to the margins, dating is based on the prescence/absence of railways. The main railway reaches as far as Exeter but not beyond. This places the basic map at around 1845. The colouring for the geology is cruder than that seen on later handcoloured OS maps, so this would suggest that it was added either close to this date or within about ten years of publication. The devonshire region was the first to be surveyed under De la Beche in the 1830's. Area covered: Totnes (lower left); Hookworthy (top left); Lyme Regis (top right); Exeter; Exmouth; Paignton. Large blank region of sea. Some general dust-marking to face and to reverse. Map mounted in large sections. No holes or tears. Minor stain to reverse. Book fold covers in poor condition with most of the spine defective and front cover near detached. Ordnance Survey blind stamp to upper margin, dated 1913(?). Sheet size: 94cm by 64.5cm approx.
