August 1869 in Frankfurt am Main; gest. 1946 in Kopenhagen) war ein deutscher Chemiker, Industrieller und wurde aufgrund seiner jüdischen Herkunft Opfer des Nationalsozialismus. Ludwig Wilhelm Gans konvertierte wie seine ganze Familie in den 1880er-Jahren vom Judentum zum Protestantismus. Er gründetet 1897 sein eigenes Chemieunternehmen, die Firma Pharma-Gans, mit Sitz in Frankfurt. 1910 zog er mit seiner Familie nach Oberursel, wo er sich vom bekannten Architekten Otto Bäppler die Villa Gans (das spätere Haus der Gewerkschaftsjugend-heute Hotelprojekt) errichten ließ. Die Firma war erfolgreich und stellte unter anderem Seren für Impfstoffe und Insulin her. Bereits nach 18 Jahren zog 1928 die Familie Gans von Oberursel zurück nach Frankfurt in den Kettenhofweg 125. Villa und Park wurden einer Bank verkauft, das Inventar versteigert. Auch das Chemieunternehmen musste seinen Betrieb einstellen. Die Gründe hierfür waren einerseits ein verlorener Patentstreit mit den Cassella-Werken und andererseits die Weltwirtschaftskrise. Ludwig Wilhelm von Gans überlebte die Zeit in Theresienstadt. Nach der Befreiung war Ludwig von Gans jedoch halb verhungert und durch die Haftbedingungen geistig verwirrt. Nach der Befreiung wurde er nach Schweden und dann nach Dänemark gebracht. 1946 starb Ludwig von Gans durch Suizid.
