Every society invented a system of medical practices hoping to overcome the inescapability of diseases, sickness and death which has been part and parcel of human society from the earliest time. As a matter of fact these medical practices are deeply rooted in socio-cultural traditions such as religious beliefs, economy, political conditions, social values and ecology. The present work therefore makes an attempt to study medicinal practices from socio-historical point of view. The book explores the conditions in which the colonial medicine entered United Provinces and this book will be indispensable to students and scholars of history, politics, and sociology and to those who are concerned with equal opportunity policies and minorities.
