Documenting public psychiatric institutions in Argentina, Armenia, Hungary, Kosovo, Mexico, and Paraguay, Richards addresses how residents of these institutions are deprived of proper medical care, counseling, and education, and therefore stand little chance of living productively within these facilities. Accompanying the book, A Procession of Them, is a DVD of a short film of the same name.
