SPEAR, p.308. Tenth edition of Brown's Providence directory. Includes a register of residents, addresses and occupations, as well as a variety of general information about the city. Some of the highlights include a table displaying the causes of deaths in Providence in 1846 (the most common killer was phthisis pulmonaris, also known as tuberculosis), and essays by an elderly resident reminiscing about Providence's past and an anonymous author imagining Providence's future.
