Louis Maimbourg (1610-1686) was a French Jesuit and historian. He was expelled from the Jesuit order by Pope Innocent XI in 1681, due to his public defense of Louis XIV. This work, written in French, contains his remarks on the historical treatise on the establishment and privileges of the Church of Rome and the bishops. In a full calf binding. Externally sound, with rubbing to the boards, spine and extremities. Lacking spine label. Small losses to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
