Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents the findings of an 1869 expedition to observe a total solar eclipse in Iowa. The expedition was led by renowned astronomer Simon Newcomb and included Professors William Harkness and J. R. Eastman. The report provides detailed accounts of the observations and data collected during the eclipse, including descriptions of the visible phenomena and the use of various instruments to measure and record the event. The observations of Newcomb and his team not only confirmed existing scientific theories about solar eclipses, but also provided valuable insights into the structure and composition of the sun's corona. Through careful analysis of the data, the researchers were able to glean crucial information about the sun's atmosphere and make new discoveries about the physical processes that drive solar activity. The findings presented in this book have since become foundational knowledge in the field of solar astronomy. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
