The map and pamphlet were published at the same time as the Union Pacific was finished and extends well into Canada, to Alaska and mu…ch of Hudson Bay. Western Canada is shown with many small districts, including Peace River, Athabasca, Churchill, Nelson River Island, and many other provincial names no longer in use. An errata slip shows J. Edgar Thomson as a member of the railroad's executive committee, indicating that this railroad was controlled by the Pennsylvania Railroad of which Thomson was president. This would have been among the earlier efforts by Thomson to expand the reach of the Pennsylvania system to the west. OCLC 14219411.
