Gilt top edges on all volumes with gilt lettering lightly debossesd to spines of dark brown, cloth-covered boards. List of Lakeside Classics to rear of each volume. These books were not sold but given away to employees and select recipients as holiday gifts. Richard Evelyn Byrd was a famous American explorer and writer. This is an account of his "early career and features his historical flight over the North Pole as well as his near-disastrous flight from New York to Paris," (Publisher's preface).
