Volume VII from the 7 Volume Set: Bright red heavy cloth (faux leather) on boards with elaborate gilt decoration on front and spine and blind stamped logo and border rulings on back. Each volume is a facsimile of the various countries at the Versailles Peace Treaty finalizing WWI, including their crest/coat of arms/signets and gilt decorations. This Volume is the original art binding of the official German copy signed by President Ebert and Premier Bauer and deposited in the Archives of the new German Government. Top edge is bright gilt. Book is tight, square, sharp-cornered and free of markings and flaws inside and out, other than some mottling to back cover and minor amount to front. Nice frontispiece engraving with captioned tissue guard - "The Peace Makers - Lloyd-George, Orlando, Clemenceau and Wilson." Three other illustrations all with captioned tissue guards. A comprehensive and readable source record of World War I with emphasis on important events. Each volume is a complete narrative in actual words of the chief officials and leaders. Each set was registered in its owner's name at the National Headquarters of The American Legion, with a double page illuminated certificate of ownership (signed by officials of The American Legion) in Volume I. This set is from the library of George F. Terry, Jr. Printed by J.J. Little & Ives, New York. This last Volume includes a large General Index, a Bibliography, a Chronology, and a large 180+ pp section "The War with Germany" by Leonard P. Ayres that includes 20 pages of color maps, graphs and other illustrations showing statistics. 356 pp. + 180 pp. We have most of the other volumes listed for sale as well from the same library.
