Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - ''Speech of Mr. Summers, of Virginia: On the Contested Election (1844)'' is a historical book written by George William Summers. The book is a transcript of a speech given by Summers in the United States House of Representatives in 1844. The speech was given in response to a contested election in Virginia's 1st congressional district. In the speech, Summers argues that the election was marred by fraud and irregularities, and that the true winner of the election was unfairly denied victory. He provides evidence of voter intimidation, ballot stuffing, and other corrupt practices that he believes influenced the outcome of the election. Summers' speech is notable for its passionate defense of democratic principles and its condemnation of political corruption. He argues that free and fair elections are the cornerstone of a healthy democracy, and that any attempt to subvert the will of the people through fraud and deceit is an attack on the very foundations of American society. Overall, ''Speech of Mr. Summers, of Virginia: On the Contested Election (1844)'' is an important historical document that sheds light on the political climate of the mid-19th century United States.
