Zustand: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Seiten: 422 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Gaining knowledge on the nature and application of stem cell sciences is a prerequisite for understanding their potential in treating or preventing bone disorders. This book addresses these issues in three sections: Introductory Text and Sources of Stem Cells for Skeletal Tissue, Cellular and Molecular Aspects, and Conditions, Applications, Treatments and Repairs. Coverage includes general aspects of stems cells, sources of stems cells, isolation and purification, applications in regeneration, nanoscale topography, myostatin signalling, chromatin remodelling, osteoporosis, and many other areas.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Mesenchymal stem cells derived from bone marrow (BM-MSCs) and adipose tissue (AT-MSCs) are an attractive tool for bone tissue repair based on cell therapy. In the present study, we investigated the osteogenic and adipogenic potential of BMSCs and AMSCs, as well as the effect of intercommunication between osteoblasts and adipocytes on cell phenotype expression. We found that BMSCs are more osteogenic, while AMSCs are more adipogenic. Additionally, it was observed that intercommunication between osteoblasts and adipocytes can negatively affect bone repair. Thus, we postulate that the greater osteogenic potential of MO-CTMs makes them the most suitable choice for cell therapy-based bone repair induction.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The use of allograft bone and other bone substitutes in orthopedic surgery has increased tremendously over the last few years. There are inherent problems with allograft tissues, however, such as the risk of disease transmission and immunologic incompatibility. Strategies to reduce these risks include improving allograft sterilization methods and developing bone tissue substitutes were evaluated in this book. Tissue engineering offers a potential avenue to overcome the limitations related to traditional bone substitutes. To enhance the body's own repair system, i.e., tissue regeneration, biomaterial research focuses primarily on developing scaffolds for tissue engineering applications. Among adult stem cells, multipotent adipose stem cells can differentiate into osteoblastic cells when seeded on bioactive biomaterials and/or treated with osteogenic factors. Therefore, adipose stem cells are a promising cell source for bone tissue engineering. The subject of this book is topical and important because in aging population the need for orthopaedic operations will only increase with time.
