Green Quarter Morocco. Zustand: Fine. First Edition. Presentation copy with initials to his Mother-in-law. Bernard Darwin married the Irish born Elinor Mary Monsell in 1906 at the very beginning of his work as a golf correspondent, a career that lasted fifty years. Some of his earliest articles were issued with the heading "Tee Shots", and it was this title that was chosen for his first collection of golf journalism, published in 1911. This copy is inscribed by Darwin, with initials as was usual, to E.V. M., Elinor Vere Monsell, his Mother-in-law. Both his wife and her brother J.R. Monsell were illustrators and both contributed to the popular children's books of which he was the author or co-author (with his wife). Handsomely bound by Shepherd's of London in green quarter morocco, with decorative paper sides. Fine. Presentation Copy from the Edi.
