John McGalliard (1906-1993) was a widely known scholar and teacher of Old English, Old Norse, and other medieval subjects at the University of Iowa from 1931 to 1975. THRYMSKVITHA, one of the best known poems from the Poetic Edda, describes the theft and recovery of Thor's hammer. Corners bumped, otherwise near fine in stiff paperwraps. Signed.
