This is the sixth Tom Swift adventure, originally copyright 1911. "Very-good" book in a good dust jacket missing bottom inch-and-a-half of jacket spine. This book lists 31 Tom Swift titles (through "His Talking Pictures" (1928) to jacket front flap, but 32 through "His House on Wheels" (1929) to internal ads at rear. We count 11 "Radio Boys" through "Aiding the Snowbound" (1928) to jacket rear flap; jacket rear panel and internal ads both list seven Don Sturdys through "Among the Gorillas" (1927.) We'll presume a publication date of 1929. Unfortunately, it seems to have proven logistically impossible to haul along the always amusing "colored man" Eradicate Sampson and his recalcitrant mule to Earthquake Island, but Howard R. Garis (1873-1962) -- of Uncle Wiggily fame and here writing under the Appleton house name of the Stratemeyer Syndicate -- does manage to give him and the trusty "Boomerang" a brief introductory comic turn, delivering a telegram. Alas, no sign of Koku, the superstitious Samoan. 211 pp. Reduced from $37.

The unfortunate crew must simply let the storm carry them wherever it will because they are unable to maneuver or navigate without ripping the airship apart. Tom, unfortunately, crashes down on the deserted and decaying Earthquake Island after the storm proves to be too much for the ship.Tom has created a wireless receiver in this instance so that he may send and receive messages. Tom takes his airship, the Red Cloud, on a journey with his buddies, including the eccentric Mr. Damon. Due to the regular little earthquakes on Earthquake Island, they get trapped in a hurricane and crash there.

Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. This hardcover book is square and tight. The boards and spine show minor wear to the edges and extremites. The gilt/lettering and illustrations are bright and legible, without significant loss. The pages are very mildly toned, having no markings or folds. The front board is a bit shaken but the hinge is complete and holding. There are several small bleached out spots on the spines lower half. Still a wonderful copy, attractive on the shelf, and with a nice "heft" in the hand. This title is not the last in the list opposite the table of contents, a later printing.
