Zustand: Ausreichend. Leinen Originalleinwand mit reicher Gold- und Blindprägung (a.d. Rückseite), Goldschnitt. Beide Deckel sind lose, wobei der Vorderdeckel mit Klebeband am Innengelenk mit dem fliegenden Vorsatz fixiert ist. Die Deckel sind überdies berieben und verschmutzt. Der Schnitt ist überwiegend stumpf.Fliegender Vorsatz vorn mit mehreren Randschäden. Die ersten Seiten sind deutlich stockfleckig, später sind die Seiten deutlich gedunkelt aber nur gelegentlich gering fleckig oder verschmutzt. Am Ende einschl. der Karte wieder starke Stockflecken. Das zweite Titelblatt trägt die Inschrift: Forty-six views of Tyrolsese Scenery, Beautifully Engraved on Steel, from drawings by T. Allom, ESQ., with historical and characterstic descriptions by a companion of Hofer. Titelseite mit Stahlstich-Vignette. Am Ende eine gefaltete Karte. Thomas Allom (1804 1872) war ein Englischer Architekt, Künstler und topographischer Illustrator. Johanna von Isser Großrubatscher (1802 - 1880 war eine österreichische Zeichnerin und Schriftstellerin. Bereits mit 21 Jahren hatte sich Johanna Großrubatscher mit detailgetreuen Burgenansichten aus dem Burggrafenamt und Vinschgau einen Namen als begabte und patriotische Künstlerin gemacht. Die etwa 400 Ansichten von Burgen und Schlössern Tirols verwendete später der englische Landschaftsmaler Thomas Allom als Vorlagen für seine Gemälde und vor allem Stahlstiche. Die Stahlstiche erschienen in Heftfolgen in London und machten so Johanna von Isser Großrubatscher" auch international bekannt. Frontespizio e 45 bellissime vedute incise fuori testo; una carta ripiegata. Le incisioni sono stampate su carta cina e applicate alle tavole e protette da un foglio di carta leggera. Piatto anteriore staccato; altrimenti un bell'esemplare di questa celebre opera.

VG-. ** Edizione originale. Tra i volumi di vedute del Tirolo più belli dell'epoca. Le accurate tavole con vedute alpine, tutte con castelli in gran parte dell'Alto Adige, sono particolarmente nitide ed efficaci. Allom -celebre architetto e incisore inglese- trasferì su acciaio schizzi di Johanna Grossrubatscher, originaria di Novacella presso Bressanone. Sono queste le uniche vedute dell'artista altoatesina dalle quali siano state tratte stampe: ne realizzò circa 300, conservate in sei album presso il Museo Ferdinandemu di Innsbruck. Cover shows signs of shelf-wear, faint markings and bumping at the corners and edges, with light cracking at the top and bottom of the spine. Very subtle tearing at the bottom of the rear board. Pages themselves are clean with light foxing; slight watermarking on title page. Complete with 45 illustrated plates with tissue guards, 1 folding map of Tyrol at rear, intact and unmarked. Pen inscription on front end-paper, Given its age, it's in very good condition. Tyrol is a western Austrian state in the Alps thats known for its historic sites and folk traditions. The capital city, Innsbruck, surrounded by mountains, is home to Habsburg Empire landmarks like baroque-style Hofburg Palace and Gothic Hofkirche Church. Thomas Allom was an English architect, artist, and topographical illustrator. He was a founding member of what became the Royal Institute of British Architects. He designed many buildings in London, including the Church of St Peter's and parts of the elegant Ladbroke Estate in Notting Hill. He also worked with Sir Charles Barry on numerous projects, most notably the Houses of Parliament, and is also known for his numerous topographical works, such as Constantinople and the Scenery of the Seven Churches of Asia Minor.
