In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Signed and inscribed by Joan Didion on the publisher's title page. The book is absolutely clean, unmarked and unread The dust jacket is in near fine condition, there is only some very slight wear to the top edge and possibly the very slightest bit of even lightening to an area on the rear edge near the spine- you have to look carefully in the right light to see it. A really wonderful example of a signed and inscribed first/first of one of Joan Didion's classics. Signed by Author(s).

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. First edition. Fifth printing, in the month of publication. A neat association copy: signed by Didion, but a gift to someone else from famed actress Angela Lansbury, known for her roles in shows likeMurder She Wroteand films like Bedknobs and Broomsticks(a house favorite). Laid in are two handwritten cards (ALS) from Lansbury to the recipient, the first a birthday note on a postcard with a Henri Rousseau painting of flowers, the second on her personal stationary reading "Here it is darling Evans -- AT LAST!! I'm 'persona non talker' for a few days -- love, Angie." Fun--you can hear voice, her personality, in that. Maybe she was slow to deliver the book, which was bought at Dutton's in Brentwood, a "signed copy" sticker from the store on the jacket. Didion of course lived in and around LA, including in Brentwood Park. The Year of Magical Thinking, a memoir about the loss of her husband Gregory Dunne, won the National Book Award, was made into a Broadway play starring Vanessa Redgrave, and was recently named byThe New York Times one of the 100 best books of this century. A fine copy in a fine jacket, and a wonderful Hollywood association.

In den WarenkorbSoftcover. Zustand: Fine. First edition. Signed on the title page by Didion, and thus scarce. In about five years of watching, we have never seen another signed copy of this book on the market. This is the play she adapted from her National Book Award-winning memoir which opened starring Vanessa Redgrave at the Booth Theatre in New York in March 2007. A nice find for the Didion devotee. A fine paperback, slim at 67 pages, with perhaps a hint of toning to leaves; still fine.

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near fine. First edition. First printing. Inscribed two days after its official publication date (October 6, 2005) on the title page: "For Dee Dee -- via Kelly -- with thanks for the picture help! Joan Didion, October 8 2005." An uncommonly long inscription for Didion, who is typically quite to the point. This book won the National Book Award and wasadapted by Didion into a broadway play starring Vanessa Redgrave. A fine copy in a near fine jacket with just a touch of rubbing. Perhaps the best condition of any of the signed copies we've handled, as this jacket is prone to sunning.

In den WarenkorbFirst edition of the account of the year following the death of the authorâs husband. Octavo, original half cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page, "For John Rogers with thanks Joan Didion 9.11.15." Fine in a fine dust jacket. Jacket design by Carol Devine Carson. From one of Americaâs iconic writers, a stunning book of electric honesty and passion. Joan Didion explores an intensely personal yet universal experience: a portrait of a marriage--and a life, in good times and bad--that will speak to anyone who has ever loved a husband or wife or child. âThrilling . . . a living, sharp, and memorable book. . . . An exact, candid, and penetrating account of personal terror and bereavement . . . sometimes quite funny because it dares to tell the truth" (Robert Pinsky, The New York Times Book Review). It went on to win the 2005 National Book Award for Nonfiction and was a finalist for both the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Biography/Autobiography. It was adapted to Broadway in 2007, directed by David Hare, opening with Vanessa Redgrave as the sole cast member.

In den WarenkorbOriginal theatrical poster from Vanessa Redgrave's performance of Didion's 2005 best-selling memoir at the Booth Theatre on Broadway. Signed by Joan Didion and Vanessa Redgrave on the lower portion of the poster. In near fine condition. "This theatrical version of [Didion's] account of losing her husband and her daughter within two years includes classic Didionesque sentences, as hard and translucent as hailstones. But it is in the quiet between the words, as she tastes and digests what she has said, that Ms. Redgrave â" playing a character named Joan Didion â" comes closest to capturing Ms. Didionâs voice and the delicate layering of harsh feelings that made the book such a stunner" (Ben Brantley, The New York Times Theatrical Review).
