At one point during the span, everyday there were expressway assaults of innocent civilians being shot at, or killed, while commuting to and from their place of employment, either as a passenger or driver. During Valentine's Day week of 2017, two girls, aged 11 and 12, suffered gunshot wounds to the head. One was in a vehicle, and the other playing outside near her home. They both were admitted to a hospital, but hours later they both died.
