Soft Cover Wraps. Zustand: Very Good. Pp.23. Photographic illustrations. Loosely inserted is a 3 verse (each with 4 lines), mss. poem on the Institute's letterhead by Professor Thomas Bodkin. Thomas Bodkin (1887 - 1961) was the first Director of the Barber Institute of Fine Arts. He was also Director of the National Gallery of Ireland. The 3 verse poem in his own hand is titled "Grunt" & is inscribed on bottom "Thomas to Emma May 31st 1939" It may well have been written for his secretary Miss E.M Forster. In it he is having a grump about something that he he is not happy about - apparently to do with attitudes about painting - one line reads "To discuss painting without ever working at pictures".
