Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. Together with the Olympia village of Albertville, names like Les Trois Vallees, Les Arcs and Val d'Isere are well known, especially to winter sports fans. However, where exactly these places lie, is only known to a few. But it's just because the French alpine regions - apart from the Mont Blanc mountains - are perceived as almost exotic, it is all the more interesting to go and explore the area. This Rother walking guide therefore offers over 50 varied walks around the Vanoise massif. The area surrounded by the valleys of the Isere and the Arc at the southernmost tip of Savoy, which shares a border with Italy in the southeast, is divided into the Tarentaise in the north and the Maurienne in the south. It was the rapid decline of the ibex which led, in 1963, to the foundation of the Parc National de la Vanoise, the first national park in France. Today there are more than 1500 ibex roaming again through the high mountains. Together with the wealth of animals, the park especially distinguishes itself with its large geological diversity. An abundant plant life can be found with many rare flowers. Countless crystal clear mountain lakes in which are reflected the snow-covered mountains, invite you to take an invigorating swim. You are presented at every step with magnificent views of glaciated mountains and idyllic high valleys where burbling streams cascade down over colourful stones and marmots call out their warning into the stillness. The walking possibilities are endless. In the Vanoise massif alone there are 500 marked paths with 66 places of accommodation at your disposal, and two long distance paths also go across the national park. Over a hundred peaks pass the 3000m mark, many of them relatively easy to access. Also in the enchanting border area outside the national park there are many delightful, often remote walks to be discovered. With numerous easy to moderately difficult panoramic and lake walks, as well as some easy to demanding high mountain treks, this guide book caters for all tastes. All of the 52 walks described in the book contain a fact-file of up-to-date information, a detailed route description and a small map marked with the line of the route. In this way the brilliant photos of the author and photographer Iris Kurschner provide an excellent impression of every walk and motivate you to go and explore the varied landscape in and around the Vanoise massif. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Zustand: New. Gran Canary not only enjoys a fabulous reputation as a paradise of sunshine and beaches; it can also be described as one of the most versatile hiking islands of the Canary Archipelago. Connoisseurs praise it as a miniature continent because of its diversity of landscapes: shimmering dunes in contrast with luscious subtropical valleys, deep ravines with palm tree oases and glittering reservoirs, next to which are extensive pine tree forests and green slopes with grazing sheep and goats. To the North West cliffs drop down 800 m deep into the ocean, while in the centre of the island serrated, almost 2000 metre high ridges and bizarre rock monoliths emerge, which the Spanish writer Miguel de Unamuno once interpreted as "fossilised storms of fire and lava". This Rother walking guide - following La Palma and Tenerife - is now the third featuring the Canary Islands: excursions to beaches and spectacular cave villages, walks through pine forests and atmospheric ridge paths. Due to the increased significance of hiking tourism, parts of what at times are more than 500 year old rocks have been carefully restored over the last years. These Caminos Reales (royal paths) stretch across the entire island and used to link remote mountain villages with coastal territory. Many proposed tours follow these mainly stone-paved hiking paths and are therefore also ideal for less experienced hikers. Experienced mountain hikers who are not afraid of "dramatic walks" will also find a rich offer of tours. The first comprehensive hiking guide on Gran Canary leaves nothing to desire! Coloured illustrations and excellent hiking maps at an ideal scale of 1:50,000/1:75,000 round off the picture and awaken the curiosity for ever new excursions into the charmingly bizarre world of the mountains. *** Nota: Los envíos a España peninsular, Baleares y Canarias se realizan a través de mensajería urgente. Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. Crete offers an incredibly multifaceted realm for walkers. Many areas of the island are still rugged and pristine. The islands terrain is dominated by three mighty mountain ranges, furrowed by deep gorges. Lofty mountains and a deep-blue sea are in close proximity an ideal combination for any holiday. The finest coastal and mountain walks on Greeces largest and most diverse island can be found in the Rother Walking Guide Crete. The choice ranges from a pleasant walk across foothills through vineyards and sprawling groves of olive trees all the way up to the highest panoramic summits. There are even some demanding peaks, over 2000 metres in height, to climb. Breathtaking canyons can be traversed and isolated, dripstone caves are waiting to be explored. Everywhere you look, youll find little villages, secluded monasteries and remote caves. Coastal trails lead to tranquil coves for bathing; is there anything better than, after a walk, taking a dip in some refreshing waters? Even the classic Cretan walks, like the Samaria Gorge and Deads Gorge with its Minoan palace grounds, are included in this guide. Rolf Goetz, a seasoned writer of walking guides for the Bergverlag Rother, presents 60 walks on the island of Crete, all rich in diversity. Each individual walk includes a short preface with all the important key points, an exact description of the route, a pertinent height profile and a little walking map with the route marked in. Apart from these, there are many tips pertaining to the availability of refreshment, possible alternative routes as well as sites worth a visit. GPS tracks are available for downloading. Numerous delightful photos whet the appetite for making the island your first choice for your next holiday sojourn. An essential guide for Crete fans! The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. Cyprus is not only famous for its cultural heritage and 9000 year old past Aphrodites Island is one of the most popular hiking destinations in the eastern Mediterranean. The centre of the island is dominated by the Troodos mountain measuring some 2000 m in height, which despite its considerable altitude is more reminiscent of European low mountains, due to its softly rounded and forested peak. This Rother hiking guide proposes 50 routes mostly ranging from easy to medium level. Next to mountain tours, it also includes a selection of coastal paths along bizarre cliffs and adventurous ravine tours. Forest paths and nature trails lead through aromatic cedar woods, silent valleys and to remote Byzantine churches and monasteries. Classic spring tours are those which take visitors across the peninsula of Akamas, when colourful carpets of flowers and orchids blossoming by the wayside unveil their typical Mediterranean charm. Cyprus extra: an ideal vacation includes hiking and swimming on white sandy beaches the water temperature on the sun-bathed island of the gods reaches more than 20 degrees Centigrade even in the month of November!
