La parte noroeste del reino húngaro resistió la conquista y reconoció a los miembros de la Casa de Habsburgo como reyes de Hungría, pasando a ser conocida como «Hungría Real». El límite entre esa Hungría real y la Hungría otomana se convirtió entonces en la línea del frente en las guerras habsburgo-otomanas durante los siguientes 150 años.
