This handsome volume contains the monthly issues of the Builder and Wood-Worker Journal of Industrial Art from Jan. 1881 to Dec. 1881. Each issue contains excellent full-page lithographs and articles that address the needs and wants of builders, amateurs, and wood-workers. The articles were designed to keep them well posted on whatever was new in practice or design. This is a real prize! VG- internally, but covers are off.

Ca early 1870s. Stereo image of El Captian, mounted to green stiff-stock paper. Lettering in black ink. Blank verso. Oblong format: 3-15/16" x 7". Rounded corners. Bierstadt a successful photographer of the era, who took his photographs of Yosemite during a visit to California in the early 1870s. Some modest wear & soiling to card. A VG+ example. Now housed in a clear mylar sleeve.

A wonderful collection of early photographs.

The principle missionaries of which this book treats are the Revs. Frederick Ayer, Alonzo Barnard, Sela G. Wright, and Mr. David B. Spencer. This is a vivid and thrilling account of dangerous missionary work amongst the Sioux Indians and other sometimes hostile tribes. The author was personally acquainted with some of these men, who provided materials for this book.Rev. James Peery Schell (1845-1932). b. West Liberty, Iowa; d. Ambrose, North Dakota. Rev. Schell was educated at the University of Iowa, the Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Chicago, and at Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He was ordained in 1873 by the Iowa City Presbytery, and was a Presbyterian minister and missionary in Utah, Iowa, Minnesota, Idaho, and North Dakota.
