Paperback. Zustand: New. Toiletpaper is an artists' magazine created and produced by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, born out of a passion or obsession they both cultivate: images. The magazine contains no text; each picture springs from an idea, often simple, and through a complex orchestration of people it becomes the materialization of the artists' mental outbursts. Since the first issue, in June 2010, Toiletpaper has created a world that displays ambiguous narratives and a troubling imagination. It combines the vernacular of commercial photography with twisted narrative tableaux and surrealistic imagery. The result is a publication that is itself a work of art, which, through its accessible form as a magazine, and through its wide distribution, challenges the limits of the contemporary art economy.

Stunning and timeless collection of unpublished photographs of cats from the photographer who defined the visual vocabulary of feline image making for generations to follow. Iconic cat photographs never been published before in over 50-60 years. These photographic muses were Chandoha's own family cats or rescue cats from the Greenwich Village animal shelter (the Chandoha archive has photos of the shelter from 1949). There was a level of unparalleled trust between artist and subject. This volume includes his original muse Loco, who he found during a NYC snow storm in 1949 and Chandoha's first photos of Loco's antics were picked up and published by the picture magazines around the world at that time, going viral in 1949. From that time on, Chandoha's photographic practice focused on cats (and then dogs as well).

Zustand: Very Good. Hardcover, 100 pages. Original publisher's illustrated laminated boards. Issued without dust jacket. Copiously illustrated in color and black and white throughout. Beatrice Haverich believes that "trees embody life. They show us the seasons in a city landscape, and they provide us with wood, food and shelter. Their silence demands our respect." Her subjects, for whom she has the utmost sympathy, are survivors, stalwarts: for example, the Yew trees in Kingsley Vale, UK, are 4,000 years old. Among these portraits, she observes branches molded by the wind into lopsided hairstyles, and roots exposed by the rain. Some trees survive in cement planters or remain in the bounds of their sidewalk squares, but others reclaim their habitat, taking over old greenhouses and popping the glass panes one by one as they grow. Up from sand and boulders and cliffs and pavement, Haverich's trees are shaped by their landscape, but they persist in shaping it as well. Record # 361153.

The lack of comprehension of the results led to half the nation living in a continual state of bewilderment. Caleb Cain Marcus turned to photography as a means to make sense of and process his visceral reaction to the election. He photographed the blue sky because, like our thoughts and minds, it is abstract and seemingly undividable; and yet, humans create division with thoughts and ideas which have no physical presence. He used his work to move beyond the feeling of hopelessness and despondency. The first step of the process was to physically divide the prints by tearing them in half. The next step was to join the two pieces together and finally to apply gold leaf along the tear to create a continuous gold line. Through this physical intervention to the photographs every print becomes a unique expression of an attempt to leave behind the feelings that resulted from the election.

In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: New. A brief movement after death by Caleb Cain Marcus explores the release of energy from the body into the universe when we die. The images were taken along the coasts of New York and California and contain sky and ocean-immense bodies of space that we can lose ourselves in; becoming part of their vastness. The inspiration for the book came to the photographer from a personal experience. With the birth of his daughter, his death suddenly felt very near. His childhood questions about what happens when we die resurfaced and Marcus began to think about how to visually represent what occurs after death. The work represents the starting point of his new practice that juxtaposes digital and hand-applied mediums to create a hybrid surface, color and edge that challenges the medium of a photograph and the way in which it is seen, understood and felt. With the motion of a pendulum the grease pencil is swung by a string to make tightly grouped marks that reference the finite quantity of time in a lifespan and that move across the paper as if in a formation of light leaving the earth.

Photographer Rohina Hoffman used her interviewing skills, which she developed in her training as a neurologist, to establish an intimate rapport that allowed for a truthful telling about the impact of hair in these womens' lives. Though it was conceived and shot before the #MeToo movement, this salient project presents hair as a metaphor for identity, femininity, and the manner in which women struggle for control over their own bodies in a misogynistic world. Hair Stories reflects that hair is more than just style or aesthetics; it is a physical manifestation of the history of women.

In den WarenkorbHardback. Zustand: New. In Oscar Wilde's Italian Dream 1875-1900, leading Wilde author Renato Miracco has combined written research with visual iconographic material - from Wilde's earliest heady trips to Italy as an Oxford student to his final days in France and Italy in 1900 after his incarceration in Reading Gaol, and his voluntary exile from Great Britain. Italy, and the larger world outside of London, was essential to the sensitivity and awareness of Wilde's identity, to his contributions to the prison reform, to his challenges to the social norms and sexual stereotypes in his last years. Latin formed the basis of a proper English gentleman's education-and Italy presented a landscape which animated and exacerbated social and personal conflict for young men such as Wilde. It also offered a great deal of sexual liberty compared to the oppressive moral atmosphere of England at that time. The images Miracco has incorporated in this volume (including photos that Wilde received from the gay German photographer, Von Gloeden) are mainly unknown from private collections, and together with letters, reminiscences, magazine and newspaper articles (along with derogatory articles about Wilde written by the Italian press) play a key role in placing Wilde's character, and an entire generation, in a complex context - not only literary, but also visual. Reading about Naples, Rome, Palermo, Sicily, and Capri of that time, you see it as it must have appeared in the eyes of the writer. Oscar Wilde's Italian Dream 1875-1900 is a major addition to the canon of one of the world's greatest literary figures. The introduction to the book is by Philip Kennicott the Pulitzer Prize-winning art and architecture critic of The Washington Post.

Enchanting Nature is published on the occasion of the homonymous exhibition presented at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas, USA, from September 11 through February 1, 2026. The publication's text and images expand on the breadth of Skoglund's artistic practice as a sculptor, installation artist, and photographer. The clash of culture and nature is eternal, an ongoing struggle that characterizes some of humanity's epic concerns. The conflict between the manmade world and the natural environment and the paradoxes this conflict creates are a central focus in the work of the artist. This dialogue exists behind a facade of lush color and form that defines Skoglund's distinctive, dream-like images. Her work expresses reality as perception, a form of psychological truth. In the visual turmoil of the compositions there is a striking sense of urgency and familiarity. In this chaos, as if gasping for breath, Skoglund's work is about drowning in the super-saturated consciousness of contemporary life. Enchanting Nature includes the artist's seminal installations-Revenge of the Goldfish and Radioactive Cats-alongside the never-before exhibited installation, Fresh Hybrid, from 2008. Both the publication and exhibition Enchanting Nature showcase work from throughout the artist's career, emphasizing ongoing themes in her art including nature, the environment, and interspecies kinship. Skoglund's recent series, The Outtakes, revisits the artist's prior photoshoots to recover alternative shots originally rejected as mistakes.

The project was conceived as a symbolic photographic portrait of America in this specific time of history, a time of transition and constant transformation deeply affected by the global economic crisis and its consequences on society, politics and culture. Brooklyn Buzz is an original and intimate portrait that aims to capture the soul and powerful energy of Brooklyn. Riding local buses with the intention of capturing the essence of "the real thing" was a very rewarding although tough experience: local buses are crowded with children and elders, with a humanity rarely to be seen on the Manhattan centric subway trains.

In den WarenkorbHardback. Zustand: New. Over the course of a decade, photographer Bonnie Briant collected everything she saw, resulting in an extensive catalogue of photographs. Her first monograph, Lump Sum Lottery is quiet and subtle selection of images produced during those ten years. Self-reflexive and diaristic in nature, Lump Sum Lottery represents the many idiosyncratic, intimate moments that make up a life-the in-between spaces, the moments you feel but can't necessarily put into words; time passing in a wild rush, with everything changing yet, somehow, staying exactly the same. The photographs become personal touchstones, a mode of organising, controlling (to an extent), and collecting the world. Each picture stands alone, infused with its own story, but quietly come together, like a steady stream, as a whole.

In 1978 as the school year drew to a close two of my high school students who had tickets to a Rolling Stones Concert approached me and asked if I would like to go with them to the concert. After discussing it with my wife Nancy, who thought it was a good idea and promising photo opportunity, I was enthusiastic to go for the experience. My students were delighted that I'd be joining them. Besides they needed me to drive us to Philadelphia from Long Island, New York. So off we went for whatever adventure might lay ahead. And I carefully packed my three 35mm cameras and plenty of bandw film to record the event. Recently, I was inspired to revisit the contact sheets from that one day and choose images that still spoke to me after so many years. Here are some of those photographs I took on June 17th at JFK Stadium surrounded by 90,000 Rolling Stones fans who were so open to my camera. One footnote.Bill and Chris, my two students, are still in touch and we are good friends to this day. I am forever grateful to them for our trip to that Rolling Stones Concert.
