I staden finns, förutom Eternod-Mermod-samlingen även Collection de I'Art Brut med en kärnsamling grundad av Jean Dubuffet. Denna samling startade 1976 sin verksamhet som offentligt museum och forskningscentrum. Detta faktum ger Eternod-Mermods samling en styrka men ställer samtidigt krav på samlingens kvalitet. l Sverige har två större utställningar med Art Brut-konst anordnats tidigare: 'De gåtfulla. Outsiders i konsten' på Liljevalchs konsthall 1980 och 'Särlingar' på Malmö konsthall 1991. Att det nu åter blir aktuellt med en utställning av det här slaget känns mycket glädjande. Både på Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde och Malmö konstmuseum finns ett rikt material bestående av sjukdomsverk av de båda svenska konstnärerna Carl Fredrik Hill och Ernst Josephson. På Waldemarsudde anordnades dessutom 1991 en utställning benämnd 'Skapande patienter. Bilder ur Karolinska Institutets psykiatriska samling'. Dessa två museer kan nu genom ett generöst tillmötesgående från Philippe Eternod och Jean-David Mermod visa en stor utställning med särlingskonst. Det är en mångfasetterad utställning innehållande 236 verk av 34 olika konstnärer, bl.a. Aloïse, Benjamin Bonjour, Paul Duhem, Madge Gill, Ted Gordon, Louis Soutter, Scottie Wilson och Adolf Wölfli. Utanförskapet och i en del fall sjukdomen tycks vara det som präglat dessa sinsemellan mycket olika konstnärsindivider.
