Softcover. Zustand: Very Good. (Issue 16). [light edgewear to covers, minor external soiling]. Directory of the then-approximately 6,700 members of the DGA, with contact information and (often) a brief credits summary for each. Includes not only full-fledged film and TV directors, but also assistant directors, unit production managers, program assistants, etc. The President of the Guild at the time was Jud Taylor; members still listed (because they were still living!) included John Huston, Stanley Kubrick, Hal Ashby, Richard Brooks, Irving Rapper, Frank Capra, John Cassavetes, George Cukor, Samuel Fuller, Billy Wilder, Robert Aldrich, Henry Hathaway, Gene Kelly, Mervyn LeRoy, Ida Lupino, Rouben Mamoulian, Paul Mazursky, Vincente Minnelli, Jean Negulesco, John Sturges, Fred Zinnemann, and King Vidor. (All gone now -- all gone. How depressing is that?) It's also interesting to note the presence of quite a few people who you don't necessarily think of first as directors, such as Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, James Mason -- even Red Skelton and Lucille Ball. (And speaking of Lucy: there are categorized index lists at the back of the book for "women members" (about 840 names) and "ethnic minority members" (about 200).) There is also a full index of members by geographic location, further broken down by category: directors, assistant directors, stage managers, etc.).
