Previously published in the UK by Muller in an unnumbered edition containing no publication date in the early 1950s. Originally published by Fawcett Gold Medal in the US in 1950 also as a paperback original. One inch patch of surface loss at the base of the spine which has been covered with tape. Reading creasing to the spine but otherwise only light edge and surface wear to the covers. Browning to page edges. Initials in pen to the first page and there is a small drawing in pen to the inside of the back cover. The pages are browned but otherwise clean and unmarked. Cover illustration is based on an image from the Warner Bros. film of the same name and shows Gary Cooper and Ruth Roman although in this edition the image seems a little different with the cowboy looking less like Gary Cooper.
