Lavorava di notte con uno stroboscopio che illuminava il paesaggio intorno, sperimentando inusuali tecniche di stampa nella camera oscura dell'università. Da questa esperienza derivò nel 1979 questo fotolibro, pubblicato senza un titolo o una parola di testo. Le uniche informazioni si trovano sul dorso del libro. Book.

Published in conjunction with a 1978 exhibition held at San Francisco's Grapestake Gallery, Richard Misrach's eponymously titled second book features fifty-five beautifully reproduced images from his haunting "Night Desert Photographs" series. A handsome example of the exceedingly uncommon first cloth edition (cited on page 32 of Martin Parr and Gerry Badger's "The Photobook: A History Volume II" and page 51 of "From Fair to Fine: 20th Century Photography Books That Matter") additionally BOLDLY SIGNED "Richard Misrach" in black ink on the front pastedown showing just a bit of mild soiling to the white cloth along with a slight crimp through the lower foredge tips. According to the photographer, fewer than one hundred copies of this beautiful undertaking were ever bound in cloth. This copy is additionally inscribed by Misrach to acclaimed American photographer Ralph Gibson on the front flyleaf, with Gibson's ink stamp above the first photograph. Quarto. 54 black and white photographs. Original white cloth, with a black and white photograph mounted on the front panel, and the spine printed in black. In the original acetate dust wrapper, slightly short as issued, with some light yellowing. Housed in a custom cloth slipcase. An excellent association copy of "his masterwork"; "many of Misrach's early negatives were destroyed in a fire in the late 1970s, which makes this book a valuable reference for the series as well as a compelling work" (The Photobook).
