Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 1994 in the subject Film Science, grade: B/A, University of Amsterdam, language: English, abstract: As the film Total Recall was released in 1990 critics were confused. In theirattempts to give a summary they all created different stories. Some even figured out some failures in the plot and for some the story line was an enigma.1 Though there was a lot of misunderstanding about this film there was also a consens on the kind of genre the film belonged to. Fred Glass gave in his article 'Totally recalling Arnold' the film 'Total Recall' the label NBF 'New Bad Future', which has to be understood as a subgenre of the fertile SF (Science Fiction) of the 1980's. NBF is defined as following: 'NBF films tell stories about a future in the grip of feverish social decay. While some posit a post nuclear barbarism (as in the Mad Max trilogy, .), most envision the world that will emerge without such an apocalyptic break with history. The NBF scenario typically embraces urban expansion on a monstrous scale, where real estate capital has realised its fondest dreams of cancerous growth. (.). The heroes,., go up against the corruption and power of the ruling corporations, which exercise a media-based velvet glove/iron fist social control.'2 Exactly these characteristics can be found in 'Total Recall'. In consequence it could be read as a film that is following these patterns which are founded in the 1980's Science Fiction. In this respect one could argue that 'Total Recall' is a quite traditional movie. But 'Total Recall' offers something new through using cyberspace. This world that is defined as virtual reality mixes all the patterns and norms of traditional SF and makes this film very special in its appearance. As Paul Verhoeven says about his film: 'For the audience every moment in the movie seems to be real. But when you get to the next scene, you can doubt the scene before, yeah I'm exaggerating, because it would be really terrible to do that to an audience; everybody would be driven crazy, probably. But every once in a while you realise that what you saw before should have been seen in a different way, It was not reality, or it was a misinterpreted reality.'3 The narrative structure of this film is therefore extremely complicated. It combines reality, dreams and virtual reality. Perceiving this film means having the choice between many narrations. They all depend on the point of view the perceiver wants to take. Neuware -Scientific Essay from the year 2005 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,3 (First Class), University of Sheffield, language: English, abstract: IntroductionMany textbooks and articles describe how best to plan strategically and what the fundamental steps must be taken in the strategic planning process. One main issue is that many authors are unanimous in relation to the mission statement, which should be the first step in the corporate planning process. However, others think the mission¿s mapping should be stated in another level of the planning hierarchy. Therefore, it is essential to specify the role of mission in that process to be able to dwell on the different perspectives. But first, before the general role of mission is described, there will be an outline of the reasons why many authors put the mission in different levels of the process. This could help to understand the general role of the mission in that context more precisely. At least, writers are of the same opinion that the major argument in favour of planning is in the co-ordination of decision-making in order that an organisation moves in a well-focused direction. Without planning, the efforts of the organisation may not be well coordinated and managers and staff may be headed in different directions. Planning also helps to ensure that the corporate future is taken into account, so that the organisation can control the situation it finds itself in and prepare for unexpected eventualities (Hannagan, 1995).[.]BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 16 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -Pre-University Paper from the year 2009 in the subject Didactics for the subject English - Applied Geography, grade: 1,0, , language: English, abstract: Bobby Sands was a member of the paramilitary Irish Republican Army who was arrested for the possession of firearms in 1977 and died on hunger strike four years later because Margaret Thatcher refused to force-feed him. As his death in Maze Prison caused massive reactions all over the world, Sands was regarded as one of the most significant members of the IRA. A very popular citation that can be found everywhere on the Internet when you look for Bobby Sands is:¿They have nothing in their whole imperial arsenal that can break the spirit of one Irishman who doesn¿t want to be broken! ¿Although there is no clear evidence that this sentence was said by the IRA-Member Bobby Sands or if this quote is just a legend attached to the famous hunger striker after his death, it sums up his attitude towards Great Britain and Margaret Thatcher in a short and provocative way.History has shown that the answer to the question who is a heroic fighter for freedom and who is a terrorist depends on the point of view of the person judging the actions of another person ¿ the Taliban were heroes for the USA when they fought the Soviet Union and even Saddam Hussein was seen as the hero of the Iran-Iraq War. The same thing can be said about the Irish Republican Army and their members because many Irish see or saw them as heroes fighting for the freedom of their home country whereas the English saw them as terrorists attacking the integrity of the United Kingdom. On the following pages I will try to outline who Bobby Sands was, what ideas he fought and died for and if he can be seen as an ¿Irish Martyr¿ today. I will start with the historical background to show where the English-Irish conflict has its roots and what role the IRA and especially Bobby Sands played in that tragedy. To do that I will examine the life of Bobby Sands to see what made a young Irishman join the IRA, what he was arrested for and how he died under the administration of Margaret Thatcher.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 40 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2008 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Comparative Literature, grade: 1,3, , language: English, abstract: Learners of a second language are confronted with different challenges. They have to learn new words and grammar rules and how to apply them. To improve their skills they need to be corrected or they must have the possibility to correct themselves by comparing their usage of the foreign language with that of native speakers. However, there are some implicit rules to using a language which are rarely detected by both learners and native speakers. One of these cases is the usage of discourse markers (DM) (Svartvik 1980:171). Swedish linguist Jan Svartvik assumes that such particles¿ inadequate applications have more far-reaching consequences during communication than grammatical incorrectness (1980:172).In this essay I will concentrate on the DM like since it is amongst the most frequently used by native speakers of English (Fox Tree 2006:727, 2007:309; Müller 2005:197). As research has shown, non-native speakers use like less often as a DM than native speakers (Fuller 2003:200; Fung and Carter 2007:435; Hikyoung 2004:121; Müller 2005:230). Thus, I will firstly argue that the infrequent use of like as a DM is one feature by which non-native speakers can be recognized as such. Secondly, I will show that this deficit in pragmatic competence effects their communication with native speakers negatively. I claim that the reasons for the lower rate of like relates to its pragmatic functions and the way in which English is taught.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 16 pp. Englisch.

(qtd. inBuckland & Elsaesser: 1). I will analyse the film Collateral Damage, directed by AndrewDavis, in terms of its context and how it is portrayed technically. My aim is to show ArnoldSchwarzenegger¿s development, how Collateral Damages represents a turning point in thehistory of action movies Arnold took part in, and how he has changed from a muscle shirtwearing daredevil and killing machine to a family man with moral values. Therefore, I willstart to look at a couple of important action movies in which Arnold Schwarzenegger plays aleading role and after that, I will compare the differences of the former Arnold and the Arnoldwe see in Collateral Damage. To realise this, I will focus on Schwarzenegger¿s behaviour andthe way, Andrew Davis represents the fire-fighter and his emotions. In the end, I will give ashort conclusion regarding Arnold¿s rise from rags to riches and how he represents anirreplaceable icon not only in the history of action movies during the last three decades.Everybody knows the Australian guy ¿Arnie¿ alias Arnold Schwarzenegger. The first role inthe movie Hercules in New York owes Arnold his career as a bodybuilder and his enormoussize. Released in 1970, Arnold ¿ at this time known as Arnold Strong ¿ plays a mythologicaltoga clad Hercules. Arnold takes part in a weight-lifting competition; he becomes a wrestlerrides his chariot through Times Square, descends into hell and gets mixed up with gangsters. In contrast to Collateral Damage, Arthur Allan Seidelman, the director of Hercules in NewYork, focuses on Schwarzenegger¿s muscle mass.In 1982, John Milius creates the fantasy action movie Conan the Barbarian. Here, Arnoldportrays a bulldog and beefy giant who survives as sole human the strain of bondage. I can confirm Ho and Platt¿s statement, since I was in Singapore in 2004. It was notdifficult to notice Singapore English as a speech variety. This sparked my interest inparticipating in the proseminar ¿English in Singapore¿ and consequently in researching into acertain grammatical phenomenon in Singapore English, namely the passive voice. In this term paper, a short analysis of the two passive structures specific to ColloquialSingapore English (the so-called kena passive and the give passive) will be presented. Furtheron, we the get passive will be examined. We will show that give- and kena-constructions arederived from the languages of Chinese and Malay, respectively. The bigger part of this paperwill be to examine the overall frequencies thereof. Which of the two passive constructionswill be closer in structure to the standard form A personal analysis will help us to answer thisquestion, always with the hidden desire to finally come up with a reasonable conclusiontowards the end of the paper. We will probably have a winner of the competing substrate formand we will hopefully find out which passive construction is the most productive one inSingapore English. Moreover, we want to compare the frequency of the kena-passive with the getpassive¿sfrequency in a corpus-based analysis. Admittedly, the corpus-based study will berelatively restrictive and not quite large in size. In addition, the give-passive will be ignoreddue to its rarity.Further on, we want to compare passive voice in Singapore with the passive inStandard English. To manage this, after having presented the development of Singapore, itsmultilingualism and English as its most common language, we will define some basic termswhich will be used in this term paper. After that, we will explain the corpus and themethodology used. In the end, we will sum up the findings and we will discuss my own study.Perhaps, there are possibilities how to do it better next time or there are other things that couldbe done.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 20 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -Scientific Essay from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Customer Relationship Management, CRM, grade: 1,0, University of St Andrews, course: Business Marketing, language: English, abstract: The business-to-business (B2B) landscape is rapidly changing due to a variety of trends: The evolving end-customer expectations drive companies to be more responsive and provide a better value-proposition to their customers. This has translated into business markets, demanding greater responsiveness, reliability, and quality consciousness from supplying firms (Sheth & Shainesh, 2001: 274).Market consolidation as a result of a wave of mergers and acquisitions in many industries during the past two decades forces many companies to focus on the few large customers that survived (Narayandas, 2003: 1). Globalization, hyper-competition, the rapid rise of information technology, and the commoditization of many products through e-commerce have resulted in better visibility of demand and supply and lower switching costs. Logistics and communication advances have made buying from across the globe as easy as buying locally (Schäfer, 2007: 10).All this has lead to an erosion of customer loyalty and the ability to seek lower priced, better quality options from a wide variety of suppliers instantaneously. Therefore, building customer loyalty through relationship management is not a choice anymore for most businesses; it is crucial for the achievement of sustainable competitive advantage (Sheth & Shainesh, 2001).This report to the head of marketing of an imaginary business-to-business supplier aims to discuss the implementation of a customer relationship management (CRM) system. More specifically, the author will define the relevant terms, outline the suggested CRM techniques, and highlight their potential benefits and limitations. At the end, some final conclusions and recommendations will be presented.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 20 pp. Englisch.

Taylor'sthesis of the origins of the Second World War has received some support, but primarilycritique. His thesis may be briefly stated. According to Taylor, Hitler was not a demonicwarlord, who had plans of world conquest but was only an ordinary man ¿who was no morewicked and unscrupulous than many other contemporary statesman¿ . Hitler followed aforeign policy like ¿that of his predecessors, of the professional diplomats at the foreignministry, and indeed of virtually all Germans¿. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2004 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Linguistics, grade: 1, University of Duisburg-Essen, course: Proseminar - Language and Gender, language: English, abstract: 1. IntroductionThe reason why popular scientific books are very successful is probably that an overview of the topics of modern science and an understanding of the main ideas are of interest to most people. But scientific literature does not only use a style too complicated for the ¿ordinary¿, not academically educated person. It also is too extensive and contains many, at times confusing, details that are of no interest to a ¿normal¿ person. So for a person just trying to get the main drift of a scientific topic, it is on the one hand hard to deal with the scientific vernacular and on the other hand almost impossible to filter the information of real importance from other information that is not as important.Popular scientific books seem to be the solution for people not academically interested in a topic. Here the authors can concentrate on the basics and foundations of knowledge, going not too much into the unnecessary detail. They are not bound to the strict structures of scientific literature, but can explain simply with examples from real life. But more important is the fact that most people in our society want to be entertained rather than taught and find the academic side of science simply boring. The colloquial style of writing in popular scientific literature, the colourful examples that draw relations to the readers¿ own life and the sometimes humorous descriptions add to the pleasure of the audience and render this kind of literature not only informative but in the first place entertaining.Though it may be true that most people read popular scientific books only for entertainment, it is also true that with this literature the ideas and discoveries of modern sciences become more transparent not only for a small academically educated group but for everybody who is interested in it. Of course they can only ¿scratch the surface¿ of the actual scientific knowledge. In order to have a greater understanding of the science in question popular scientific literature cannot replace scientific literature.Popular scientific books are published with topics of many different sciences from all fields. Deborah Tannen is one of the most successful authors of popular scientific books in linguistics. She is professor of linguistics at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and wrote numerous books, including the bestsellers That¿s Not What I Meant (1986) and You Just Don¿t Understand (1990) .(1)[.]______(1) cf. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2004 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 1,0, University of Heidelberg (Anglistisches Seminar), course: Cinema and Society, Kino und Gesellschaft, language: English, abstract: 1 IntroductionIn adapting Stoker¿s Dracula, Murnau has made quite a few changes to the original plot. Some of them were made due to economic and practical reasons, such as moving the setting and locations to Germany, some of them in order to avoid charges of copyright infringement, such as changing the characters¿ names, as Murnau was not authorised to make an adaptation. However, Murnau doesn¿t simply copy Dracula. Stoker¿s novel about the intrusion of an alien evil into English society is transformed into a story mirroring the fears that prevailed in Germany in the late 1910¿s. Screenwriter Henrik Galeen and di rector Murnau were obviously influenced by the impressions that both World War I and the influenza pandemic had left. The war had left large areas in Central Europe in ruins and had triggered many political changes. Often, the new-founded Weimar Republic was seen as weak and incapable of acting. Moreover, the outbreak of the Spanish Flu in 1918 proved no less devastating, ranking ¿with the plague of Justinian and the Black Death as one of the three most destructive human epidemics.¿(1) Assisted by large troop movements and disastrous hygienic con ditions after the armistice, the disease spread across the globe within less than three months. Physicians and scientist were helpless. There was no immunization available: the influenza virus could not be isolated and positively identified as the pathogene until 1932. In fact, even today there are no means of preventing another influenza epidemic(2) .Murnau begins with a caption that presents the movie as a record of an epidemic: ¿Aufzeichnung über das große Sterben in Wisborg.¿ The vampire is not the party animal that Lugosi impersonated; instead, Murnau draws on a tradition that associates vampires with unexpected or inexplicable death. His creature feeds on a society which is defenseless against him, either because its members are too weakened or too terrified to take action. Thus, though set almost one hundred years in the past, Nosferatu presents an actualisation of Dracula.[.]______(1) Potter, C.W. ¿A history of influenzä. However, only one year later, at the end of 1989, reunification was all of the sudden back on the agenda and discussed everywhere around the world. Within less than a year the GDR went through its most severe crisis from which it would never recover. Political scientists and historians would not have imagined that the GDR could dissolve so easily and so quickly. Thousands of citizens were fleeing to the West and literally hundreds of thousands were protesting in the streets of Leipzig and Berlin. The regime was internally divided and had no power to withstand the forces that were bringing its end. About a decade and a half later historians are still discussing the events that led to the dissolution of the GDR regime and are divided about the question whether it can be classified as a revolution or not. In my essay I will start out by looking at the weaknesses that the GDR regime had. There had to be a precondition that made the decline of East Germany possible and I will investigate that. Afterwards I will take a look at three different phases that the upheaval in 1989/90 had, namely the flight, the mass protests, and the Round Table talks. At the end of the paper I will discuss arguments in favour and against the notion that the GDR upheaval was a revolution and conclude with my own evaluation. Most of this essay is based on the book Dissolution by Charles S. Mayer (1997) and a chapter from the book The Rush to German Unity written by Konrad H. Jarausch (1994). Please note that I will most of the time refer to an ¿upheaval¿ when I describe the events in the GDR in 1989/90. I will try to avoid the term ¿revolution¿ in order to not take any position in favour of or against one historical camp or the other.[.]Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 16 pp. Englisch.

Cognitive anthropology gives attention how people make sense of reality according to their own indigenous cognitive faculty unlike the anthropologist point of view, known as emic vs. etic theoretical approach. Cognitive anthropology speculates that each culture organizes and understands events material life and ideas to its own standard. This delightful tradition that had only been included by three presidents before but that in many ways supports and promotes the art of contemporary American poets was kept alive by Elizabeth Alexander, one of the best-known and most successful recent African-American women poets. Her Praise Song For The Day, despite some sporadic criticism, was a suitable and thoughtful composition for this occasion and it was then that I heard for the first time of Elizabeth Alexander, an African-American poet. Her work and background fascinated me especially because she is a contemporary and her work is so recent and still going on. Therefore, I decided to examine four of her poems in the term paper at hand: Emancipation, Ars Poetica #28: African Leave-Taking Disorder, Race and Ars Poetica #92: Marcus Garvey on Elocution. During my research I had to learn that sadly, there is a significant lack of research and literature on this and other contemporary authors and therefore, this term paper largely consists of my own findings regarding the poems. Due to the reason that her personal background and her life have influenced the poems to a notable extent, I will start off with a short biographical section on Elizabeth Alexander herself and point out further biographical traits while interpreting the poems in their respective chapters. I will finally summarize my findings and present my personal conclusion as regards her way of tackling her topics and her art of writing.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 24 pp. Englisch.

Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2009 in the subject Politics - Topic: European Union, grade: A-, University of Basel (Europainstitut), language: English, abstract: Authors have proved hypothesis: Turkey¿s military capabilities, experience in NATO andinternational peace keeping operations and missions could rather strengthen than weakenESDP position. However, there are some weaknesses that Turkey faces (focus on ¿hard¿rather than ¿soft¿ power, military is in the process of modernizing, underestimated role inpeace keeping operations), Turkey¿s contribution to ESDP is too significant (stronginvolvement in the missions) and will give more benefits than costs. Furthermore, Turkishaccession to the EU would transform strategic challenges of ESDP.51Only five of twenty ESDP peace keeping operations have been of a military nature, whichmostly has been held by NATO or UN. ¿When it comes to much bigger military issues, theEU avoids taking strategic responsibility and still depends on the NATO to do its ¿dirtywork¿¿52. Therefore military stronger EU would give NATO and UN credit that EU is alsoresponsible in the field of crisis management. Such win-win situation would exempt USSecretary¿s of State Madeleine Albright¿s the ¿3 D¿s¿: 1) decoupling of ESDP from NATO2) duplication of capabilities, 3) discrimination of non-EU NATO members.53 Turkey wouldalso play role of agent between EU and NATO and ¿parties involved will benefit from threelevelgame¿54 (EU-Turkey-NATO). Therefore it is advantageous and beneficial not only forTurkey, but also for the EU and the NATO as well.55Finally, last week Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn once more showed that EU wouldnot allow Turkey 'cruise control' on accession.56 Therefore Turkey-EU relations shouldbalance the contributions and benefits of such partnership and show that both partners can beproducers and consumers of security and experience of defence. Such dialogue will prove thatEU can play an important role in CFSP/ESDP dimension also in the future.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 24 pp. Englisch.

The first part of the paper gives a brief definition and overview in terms of training and development. Furthermore, when it comes to development it is worth bearing in mind that it is a far reaching concept with many different aspects which does not only include training. That is where organisational learning and culture come into the play. In order to promote understanding, the paper refers to practical examples of some of the most successful organisations such as eBay, Apple and Google.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 20 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject American Studies - Literature, grade: B+, Humboldt-University of Berlin, language: English, abstract: Sherwood Anderson and Ernest Hemingway are two very influential American writers. Both have contributed a lot to the development of the short story, especially to its sub-genre, story of initiation, with various of their works. In this essay, I want to analyse some of their most famous stories in order to highlight some important initiatory aspects. Firstly, it is interesting to take a further look at the origins of the initiation term, in order to understand why it is applied to literary theorie. Then I will elaborate some important elements and common features to define the initiation story as a literary genre. In the following, to illustrate the theory, I will look at the way Sherwood Anderson built up his stories of initiation. To get a further idea of Anderson's texts and ideologies, I will shortly explain the Freudian influence on his texts and his opinion about American industrialisation. With those information in mind, one can easier understand, how he elaborates his theory of the grotesques, the characters of his work Winesburg, Ohio. In order to understand how this collection of short stories is contently held together, it is essential to have a look at George Willard, the protagonist, and his development and initiation. In the following chapter I will make plain, that the initiation theme is also a very important aspect in a lot of other short stories of Anderson, as for example in ¿I want to know why¿, where a boy painfully has to encounter a form of sexual initiation. To be able to identify also other styles of creating initiation stories, I will focus on Hemingway's Nick Adams stories, on the first one, ¿Indian camp¿, where young Nick is forcefully initiated to birth and death, and on the last one, ¿Fathers and sons¿, where Nick as a father himself reflects on his past and his father. Finally, I will make a short comparison between both authors in order to be able to draw a conclusion in the end.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 32 pp. Englisch.

In contrast tothis another contemporary stated only a decade later thatthe streets are in general covered of the blackest kind, which sable hue isprincipally contracted from the dust of coal carts; and on a rainy day the heads ofthe passengers are saluted with streams of water from long projecting spoutsissuing from the tops of the houses. The lighting and paving are articles whichalso require much improvement. It is obvious that during this time Nottingham experienced a considerable physicalchange, which transformed the elegant Georgian town of 1750 into a dirty and filthyindustrial slum by 1830. During that period Nottingham had considerable problems withits population and its housing situation and could only helplessly watch its own decline.Especially, after the refuse of the corporation to enclose the open spaces in 1787Nottingham had no real ways to escape its disastrous situation. This essay will focus on the transformation of Nottingham during the period from1750 to 1830 when the town had first the standing of a garden town and then thereputation of one of the worst slum areas in the country. In particular, it will focus onthe population and the housing situation during that period. In addition to that, accountsof contemporaries who lived in or visited Nottingham will be mentioned to illustrate thechange within the town of Nottingham. This essay will firstly examine the conditions and circumstances of the populationand the housing situation in Nottingham when it was a garden town so from about 1750to 1790/1800. Then in the third chapter Nottingham¿s population growth and its changedhousing situation will be discussed during Nottingham¿s time as an industrial slum sofrom 1800 to 1830. In conclusion, the last chapter shall analyse the conditions of theyears after 1830. It will attempt to understand why, within eighty years from about 1750 to 1830Nottingham changed its physical appearance so dramatically and which reasonscontributed to this transformation from a picturesque garden town to an filthy industrialslum. Furthermore, it should make clear the conditions of the population, especially theworking-classes who lived in the centre of Nottingham which became the slum area. Be clear.2. Be polite. The first rule includes Grice's postulates accounting efficiency, economy and informativeness:a) Quantity: Be as informative as required.Be no more informative than required.b) Quality: Say only what you believe to be true.c) Relevance: Be relevant.d) Manner: Be perspicuous.Don't be ambiguous.Don't be obscure.Be succint.[.]Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 32 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2003 in the subject Cultural Studies - East European Studies, grade: 1,0, European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), course: Reforming Russia - Objectives and Obstacles. [.]Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 32 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Master's Thesis from the year 2004 in the subject Health - Miscellaneous, grade: sehr gut, University of Bonn (Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultät), language: English, abstract: The Regulatory Affairs (RA) department is a key discipline in the global network of drug development. During drug development, regulatory strategy is one crucial success factor for the approval of the development candidate. Also, regulatory strategy can optimise labelling in the key countries in order to maximise the market success. No submission and approval would be possible without the appropriate dossier composition and compilation. Without adherence to the respective guidance documents and scientific advice from Health Authorities to design the optimal clinical development plan, optimal labelling would not be feasible. These two examples show some characteristics of the regulatory strategy: it is highly interactive with other disciplines and it is heavily based on a thorough intelligence work which enables the RA Manager to know the ¿rules of the game¿ and to develop the optimal regulatory strategy for the current development candidate. The major cornerstone for developing a regulatory strategy is regulatory intelligence. This document focuses on regulatory intelligence. The regulatory contributions to the global drug development from early research to submission are described. Strategies for generic drugs as well as detailed strategies for life-cycle management are excluded.Major components of regulatory intelligence are:¿ Competitor Information¿ Information on Regulatory Environment¿ Information on Legal RequirementsCompetitor analysis is an essential aspect of the intelligence work. Sources of competitive information as well as relevant items of competitive information are described.Sources of information about the regulatory environment and sources of information about the legal regulatory environment are described and their tremendous impact on setting up and modifying the regulatory strategy evaluated.Special attention is paid to the components and sources of regulatory intelligence information (e.g. Internet links and documents related to intelligence information). Some examples show how regulatory intelligence information supports the regulatory strategic considerations. The last section describes the regulatory strategy itself and examples of how regulatory intelligence acts as the basis for setting up the regulatory strategy. What is the basis of strategic considerations, what are the considerations, what are the major components of a regulatory strategy, how do the different disciplines involved in drug development work together BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 44 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: A-, Humboldt-University of Berlin, language: English, abstract: To begin with, I will give a short introduction to Irie and her racially mixed background. This introduction will lead to a chapter about her feeling of unrootedness as a consequence of lacking role models and her unawareness of her own family¿s history. To get more involved in Irie¿s life and problems, in the following chapters, two major characters from her social environment will be shortly analyzed: Samad Iqbal, her father¿s best friend and a first generation immigrant and Millat, his son, Irie¿s first love and one of her best friends. Both of them also struggle with their racial identity. Samad is afraid of losing too much of his traditions, and Millat has to deal with a lot of different racial influences. In the end, both characters will not be helpful for Irie to find her place because they have not even come up with a solution for themselves. So she has to undergo a personal development.Firstly, she decides to integrate more with English society. England is the country where she grew up, and indeed, she herself is half-English. She develops a kind of obsession with Englishness encouraged by the Chalfens, who she sees as her idols. She also becomes obsessed with Western beauty notions. Finally, she comes to realise that she cannot change her Jamaican body to an English body and that her longing for purity can only end in failure. When she decides to have a closer look at her Jamaican identity, she begins to inform herself about Jamaican culture. In the end, she realises that she cannot deny part of herself, but she has to accept both of her origins and her life in an emerging multicultural society. She still keeps her personal vision that one day maybe roots and cultural origins would no longer matter and racial difference might not be an issue.BoD - Books on Demand, In de Tarpen 42, 22848 Norderstedt 36 pp. Englisch.
