No Jacket. 1st Edition. 100 pages, nicely illustrated, effectively self-published by local historian Margaret Wheatley, drawing on her parents' memories and her own recollections and discussions within Smarden, that lovely Kent village to the west of Ashford. SIGNED by author on title page, under which she has written "no 126 issued" and the date - the numbering implies a limited edition. Many aspects of village life covered. Stuck by sellotape at one end to the inside front cover is a postcard with notes, in the author's handwriting, on the subjects of the photographs on front cover. In very good+ condition, the rear cover top left corner just upturning a little. Signed by Author(s).
