White was an English speaking Welshman who spent his maturity as an emigrant professor in Australia. His sensational and alcohol fueled life ended prematurely when he drowned in a swimming pool after a trip to a bar. This copy was owned by Richard Garnett, writer, editor and typographer, and also production manager of the small and well respected frim Rupert HartDavis, which his father had cofounded, and which published this edition. A lovely copy for reader and collector alike, with double interest.
