Zustand: Hervorragend | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Diabetes Mellitus is the single most important metabolic disease which can affect nearly every organ system in the body. According to the International Diabetes Federation, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in India is estimated to be 77 million (8.9%) and is estimated to reach 134.2 million by the year 2045. It occurs because of partial or complete reduction of insulin levels which results in increased levels of blood glucose in association with long term complications which may be vascular or neurological. In addition, it affects metabolism of l ipids and proteins. Among the metabolic disorders of glucose, diabetes is found commonly related to auditory disorders. The physiological basis of type 2 diabetes mellitus is a combined form of both impairment of beta cell function, with significant raise in peripheral levels of insulin resistance at the levels of receptor and post receptor. Diabetic patients are more prone to complications of hyperglycemia, as all body cells are exposed to high levels of plasma glucose.

Zustand: Hervorragend | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Preterm premature rupture of membranes is defined as spontaneous rupture of amniotic membranes before the onset of uterine contractions or prior to the onset of labour after the age of viability and before 37 completed weeks (36weeks+6days). (1) Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) occurs in 3% of pregnancies and is responsible for approximately one third of all preterm births .The incidence of preterm premature rupture of membrane averages from 0.7 to 2.1% and accounts for about 20 to 40% cases of PROM before 37 weeks of gestation. Preterm premature rupture of membrane complicates about 2-4% of singleton pregnancies and 7- 20% of twin pregnancies, it is associated with 60% preterm deliveries and 10% of perinatal death. Preterm PROM is an important cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality mainly due to prematurity and its sequelae. Perinatal infection, increased incidence of hyaline membrane disease, intraventricular hemorrhage, sepsis, cord prolapse, umbilical cord compression resulting from oligohydramnios, fetal distress further compromises the outcome and there is increased fetal wastage.(2) Maternal morbidity is increased because of chorioamnionitis, unfavourable cervix, dysfunctional labour, increase in caesarean rates, postpartum hemorrhage and endometritis. The longer the time interval between the rupture of membranes and onset of labour, greater is the risk of ascending infections and chorioamnionitis. This risk may assume grave prognosis in patient undergoing cesarean section.

Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. Today, vast collections of digital images are available across the world. To make effective use of these databases, efficient and reliable image retrieval techniques are essential. Traditionally, images were retrieved using text-based annotations, where each image was manually labeled and later searched through keywords. However, with the rapid growth in both the number and variety of images, this approach has become inefficient and often ambiguous. As a result, Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) has gained significant attention. Since the early 1990s, CBIR has emerged as a vital area of research within the multimedia community, focusing on retrieving images directly based on their visual features rather than text descriptions. The rise of digital storage has led to massive repositories of unlabeled image data-stored both on the web and within networked systems-making automated image retrieval an increasingly important challenge. The widespread availability of smartphones and digital cameras has further accelerated the production of images, increasing the need for intelligent retrieval methods. Search engines such as Google, Bing, and Flickr now invest heavily in improving image search capabilities. Yet, one of the main obstacles remains the lack of consistent or accurate textual information for these images. Human labeling is often subjective, and different annotators may describe or interpret the same image in varying ways. This inconsistency highlights the necessity for robust, content-based approaches that rely on visual analysis rather than manual description. This item is printed on demand. Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. Fractures of the thoracic and lumbar spine account for nearly 90% of all spinal fractures. Thoracolumbar fractures usually result from high-energy trauma, most commonly falls from height or road traffic accidents. These injuries typically produce vertical compression of a slightly flexed spine, although rotational, shear, and extension forces may also lead to different fracture patterns. In addition to being a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, neurological impairment is associated with approximately 20% of these injuries. Most patients with thoracolumbar fractures belong to the active and productive age group. Over the past few decades, considerable advances have been made in intraoperative monitoring, diagnostic imaging, and the development of more stable fixation devices. In addition, the use of steroids to reduce secondary injury to the central nervous system has received substantial attention. Despite these advances, the management of thoracolumbar fractures continues to present challenges for orthopedic surgeons. Several surgical treatment options have been developed for thoracolumbar burst fractures, including short- or long-segment posterior pedicle screw fixation, direct anterior decompression through corpectomy, and combined anterior-posterior spinal approaches. Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. The topic highlights that both offline and online shopping modes are considered important by consumers for purchasing various products. According to a Statista (2020) report analyzing the reasons behind consumer preferences, Indian shoppers favored offline purchases primarily due to familiarity and trust. These two factors accounted for 28 percent of the reasons influencing consumers to choose offline stores, especially for staples. A Grand View Research report (2020) estimated the Indian online food market at USD 2.9 billion in 2020 and projected an annual growth rate of 37 percent from 2021 to 2028. This indicates that both shopping modes hold significant value for different segments of consumers. However, the absence of either platform may create difficulties for shoppers. Noor et al. (2023) further emphasized that such consumer perceptions are shaped by multiple factors influencing preferences for online versus offline shopping. This study examines these factors in detail by offering an in-depth understanding of consumer perceptions and preferences. This item is printed on demand. Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. Functional materials are advanced materials specifically engineered for particular purposes due to their unique intrinsic properties. They are widely used in electronic devices for applications such as magnetic, magnetocaloric, magnetoelastic, spintronic, optical, catalytic, thermometric, ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and dielectric functionalities. These materials play an essential role in energy-efficient systems, sensing, energy conversion, actuation, and computation. A key feature of functional materials is their ability to respond to various external stimuli, including electromagnetic radiation, mechanical stress, temperature changes, magnetic fields, and electric fields. This tunability makes them highly versatile, enabling a broad range of applications across technology and industry. This item is printed on demand. Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. In recent years, the computing industry has undergone a major transformation with the rise of cloud computing-a paradigm in which computing services are provided on-demand. Cloud computing offers several benefits, including elasticity, scalability, and cost efficiency. In this model, users can access computing resources based on their needs, without worrying about where the services are hosted, how the data is stored, or how the infrastructure is managed. Users pay only for the resources they consume, freeing them from maintenance, security, and other operational concerns. This approach allows organizations to adopt new systems and features without significant upfront investment in software or infrastructure. Cloud services, managed by service providers, provide a flexible environment for developing applications and integrating new capabilities into existing systems. Compared with traditional computing models, cloud computing is more efficient in terms of cost, time, and resource management. Businesses can leverage software, platforms, and infrastructure from the cloud, paying only for what they use while avoiding the burden of administration. As organizations migrate to the cloud, the security and privacy of information become paramount. Protecting sensitive data is essential since information is a valuable asset. While service providers are responsible for ensuring security, users benefit from a hassle-free experience, allowing them to focus on utilizing cloud resources effectively.
