Outre de devoir s'ajuster en permanence aux évolutions sociales qui s'imposent à eux, les dominés, privés de projet de société et de modèle de développement autocentré, se voient condamner à se remorquer à un développement exogène, qui ne leur laisse de choix qu'entre l'emprunt et l'imitation de traits socioculturels non adaptés à leurs spécificités raciales et culturelles, mais qui les aident cependant à ne pas être exclus de " la marche du monde ". Aussi, dans les sociétés issues de la colonisation, des phénomènes de mimétisme comportemental et culturel ont-ils vu le jour, qui ont été caractérisés en terme de dénaturation (par rapport aux références raciales et culturelles initiales des populations africaines mises en esclavage ou asservies sur leur territoire même), avant de faire l'objet d'une stigmatisation en termes assez systématique d'aliénation culturelle. Les études et analyses portant sur cette aliénation ont moins exploré les modalités et manifestations somatologiques (physiologiques) de pratiques esthétiques que l'on n'a pas manqué de qualifier de mimétiques, mais qui ne peuvent s'appréhender hors le contexte de la société de consommation occidentalisée qui s'impose à la planète tout entière, et qui pousse à décloisonner les significations proprement culturelles prêtées à ces phénomènes, sans pour autant les affranchir d'une lecture en terme d'influence de la culture occidentale dominante sur les cultures dominées. # Biographie de l'auteur : Juliette Sméralda est docteur en sociologie.
