Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. 1st Edition. Pc- Nt-51 Strong New Mexico / Chicano literature pairing by Rudolfo A. Anaya, including a signed and inscribed copy of Tortuga and a signed hardcover copy of Heart of Aztlan. Tortuga (Justa Publications, 1979, first printing) is boldly inscribed by Anaya: "To: Thomas B. Catron III - Best wishes - Rudolfo Anaya - 9-23-79." Clean signature with date, adding solid collector appeal. This copy comes directly from the Catron family library, tying it to an important New Mexico lineage. Heart of Aztlan (Justa Publications, 1976, first edition hardcover) also carries a presentation inscription: "To: Thomas B. Catron III - Saludos y suerte - Rudolfo Anaya." Additionally includes a laid-in contemporary review clipping, a nice period piece that enhances the set. Both titles are early works from Anaya's foundational period, following the success of Bless Me, Ultima, and are increasingly collected-especially signed association copies tied to New Mexico figures. Condition: Tortuga - Very good. Light toning, minor handling wear, tight and clean; paperback Heart of Aztlan - Very good hardcover. Light shelf wear, clean interior, solid binding. Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover, with dust jacket. Stated first printing, July 1979. Oddly there is no ISBN shown except for the paperback edition. The hardcover is rare. 8vo(5.75 x 8.75 in.). Lovely blue cloth, stamped gilt lettering on spine. Clean, no marks, stains, etc. Corners are sharp, near perfect. Nice yellow end pages. Christmas gift inscription on free end page. The lower half of the title page is separating but still attached. Craftsmanship on the book leaves a little to be desired. White dust wrapper with mystical graphic on front, from a piece titled "Life" by Nancy J. Young. . Black titling. Book summary on rear. The paper is still stiff with little surface wear. There is one small closed separation on the front, an even smaller on at the spine/top. Anaya's third novel, completing a trilogy including "Bless Me, Ultima" and "Heart of Aztlan.".

Hardcover. Zustand: Very good minus. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: very good. First edition, first printing. SIGNED. 197pp. Octavo [22 cm] Blue cloth over boards with gilt lettering on the spine. There is a faint embossed owner's stamp on the front free endpaper, and again on the title page. The front endpaper is gently pulling, and the text block is just beginning to crack after the half title. In a dust jacket, with a shallow closed tear to the top edge. Signed by the author on the title page. Anaya wrote Bless Me, Ultima, the ground-breaking novel of the life and folklore of Chicanos in south-eastern New Mexico. Tortuga is, by far, Anaya's most difficult title to find in hardcover. Anaya himself was not aware that it had been published in hardcover until years later.
