We explored the effectiveness of acupressure for the treatment of insomnia and we want to show that the acupressure treatment is feasible also in elderly resident patients. We enrolled institutionalized patients suffering from Alzheimer¿s disease with mild cognitive impairment and insomnia. A daily acupressure on HT7 point was performed for a 8-week period. We administered the following scales: the mini mental state examination, the global deterioration scale, the neuropsychiatric inventory, the state-trait-anxiety inventory, the activity daily living and the instrumental activity daily living, the global health quality of life, and the Pittsburgh sleep quality index. After receiving the acupressure treatment, patients saw a significant decrease of sleep disorders. The number of hours of effective sleep was perceived as increased. The time necessary to fall asleep decreased significantly and also the quality of sleep increased. Additionally, also the quality of life was bettered. Hydrophilic polymers were used to control the release of drug. Matrix tablets were prepared using direct compression method. HPMC K 100 M, Guar gum and Sodium CMC used as release retardant polymers. Polymers were used in the ratio of 1:3, 1:4, 1:5 and 1:8. Rate of drug release decreased as the polymer ratio increased. The level of polymer ratio also had an effect on swelling index showing a linear relationship. At 1:8 (drug: polymer) ratio with HPMC K 100 M, tablets showed desirable release pattern, release up to 24 hr. It was found to release the drug in Zero order up to 24 hrs. For further study, 1:8 (drug: polymer) ratio was evaluated with particle sizes ranging from 250 micron to 106 microns on the release of drug. It was observed that as the particle size decreases, release also retards but follows zero order kinetics.

Inevitably, it is the intersectionality of their gender, race, ethnicity, and social class that explains the variations in how they experience femininity as well as varying social contexts. Findings indicate that while the women do not feel overly oppressed by their gender, they do identify significant sources of frustration over features of it including: that femininity is enforced by parents¿ comments about lady-like behaviors and appropriate dress, that teachers enforce rules about dress codes for girls and boy versus girl activities and that peers often police gender by conflating it with sexual orientation, i.e. a girl who dresses like a boy must be a lesbian. While the women admitted to using their attractiveness on occasion to get free drinks from males or to avoid getting a speeding ticket, they voiced mostly negative views about how the media perpetuates the notion that women must conform to narrow standards of female beauty.
