Cloth. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. First Edition. This is an anthology of motoring for pleasure, in its widest sense, drawn from a time when the motor car was new, strange, and exciting in all its manifestations. All the writing is first-hand; much of it is in the first person. The material has been chosen for its interest, authenticity, and immediacy, and for its usefulness in filling in a picture of the period. The words are those of motorists, anti-motorists, and amused or enraged spectators in Britain, the United States, and most of the inhabited world from Siberia to Spain and the Balkans to Pekin. Included are illustrations, photographs, footnotes, a bibliography, and an index. This copy is clean and solid. The endpapers are pictorial.

Cloth. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. This is the first book to deal exclusively with the behaviour of blown sand and the land form due to it. Part I is concerned largely with the author's wind-tunnel experiments by which the mechanism of sand transport was investigated. Part II deals with small-scale surface phenomena such as ripples and ridges. In Part III the results are used to explain the growth and movement of dunes in general, and the peculiar characteristics of the two main dune types.
