Past owner's initials in antiquarian ink on front pastedown; slender stub evidencing removed front free endpaper; foxing/toning throughout but strongest on initial and rear leaves; some stains at leaves' top margins. Several quires very fractionally pulled but binding remains firm. Comprised of essays "The Nature and Foundations of Eloquence," "The Foundations and Essential Properties of Elocution," and "The Discriminating Properties of Elocution." Popular work by Scottish Enlightenment philosopher George Campbell (1719-1796) which, per OCLC, was first published in 1776.
