Zustand: NUOVO. Milano, Mousse Publishing cm.20,5x28, pp.156, illustrazioni a colori. legatura editoriale in tutta tela copertina figurata a colori. Testo Inglese. Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition curated by Karen Irvine at the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago (MoCP), Dawit L. Petros: Prospetto a Mare delves into Petros's ongoing examination of the intricate connections between Italy, East Africa, Libya, and North America, particularly focusing on Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia. This solo exhibition, alongside its accompanying publication, illuminates the ways in which colonialism and cultural memory are etched into the visual fabric and architectural landscape of Chicago. Petros's inquiry aligns seamlessly with the mission of the museum, contributing to contemporary dialogues on visual art and its impact on our collective understanding of history, society, and identity.Through various artistic strategies, Petros probes the propaganda used to promote the Italian colonial project in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Libya, and Somalia and by extension, the newly formed Italian state; the technologies used to dominate occupied countries and simultaneously extoll the power of the occupiers; and the imperfect ways in which these histories are inscribed in public and private memory through monuments, storytelling, archives, and photography. Petros's works are largely concerned with global migration patterns-from the Italians who occupied the Horn of Africa in the late 1800s and early 1900s, to Africans who fled North and East Africa due to colonialization and subsequent instability, to Africans who move to North America and Europe via Italy today.Within the pages of this publication, esteemed scholars-Lindsay Caplan, Teresa Fiore, Ruth Iyob, Cristina Lombardi-Diop, and Onur Öztürk-engage in thought-provoking explorations of Petros's work. They probe themes of colonialism, modernism, technology, migration, and cultural memory, offering invaluable perspectives that enrich our understanding of Prospetto a Mare and its significance.…

Softcover. Octavo. Softcover. Paper covers, white spine with grey panels. 326 pages, 14 unnumbered leaves of plates : illustrations (chiefly color) ; 24 cm. In over three decades of intense art making, Garutti always refused the idea of a publication about his work. Which makes this one all the more remarkable. Paradoxically, Garutti's is an intentional conversational work, a work that often departs from a conversation with the public, and that is characterized by the number and disgnificance of public projects. A caption is often the first tool by which the work communicates with the general public. Caption is non-coincidentally, the title of this long-awaited catalogue raisonné. VG-. For Enredos II, artist Nuno da Luz amplifies the frequencies of the waves and winds of Bahía de Santander, interweaving them with the oscillations of the building itself and a selection of works by other artists who have been beneficiaries of Fundación Botín's art grants through the yearsJavier Arce, Katinka Bock, June Crespo, Eva Fàbregas, Asier Mendizabal, and Jorge Satorreas well as works by artists represented in the collection, such as Tacita Dean and Damián Ortega. Milano: Mousse publishing, 2026 9788867497324 409 N vol.: 1, N pag.: 42, W: 18.7, Illustr.: COL Aeolian Suite is a publication that offers a porous extension of Jenna Sutela's work presented at the Pavilion of Finland at La Biennale di Venezia 2026, where meaning drifts, gathers, and slips away. Accompanied by a vinyl record featuring excerpts from the work's original score, it brings together the project's dispersed elements of sound, movement and atmosphere in a form that can be held yet remains in flux. As in Aeolian Suite itself, where winds become vocal protagonists and carriers of messages at the edge of comprehension, the publication attends to what circulates between signals: the inaudible, the unpredictable, the untranslatable. The volume expands the work's inquiry into language, technology, and living systems. It considers wind not only as a meteorological force but as a medium that resists capture even as it animates the tools designed to measure it. In this space between composition and contingency, listening becomes a method for recognizing registers beyond humanexperience that we nonetheless shape. Hessler, Stefanie.…

Through painting and sculpture, the artist examines and reflects upon themes such as the culture of collective memory and our relationship to shared historical heritage, focusing on the complex and multidimensional history of the Montenegrin island of Mamula. Bajagi?'s project valorizes the island's heritage, utilizing its history and present as content to raise pressing universal questions relevant to contemporary art and greater society. Le Signorine, this catalogue retraces more than thirty years of the artist's poetic and painterly practice. Featuring a selection of paintings from the 1990s to the present, alongside previously unseen drawings and works conceived specifically for the showincluding a piece inspired by Prato's Cathedral of Santo Stefanothe volume highlights the dialogue between Manzelli's vision and the context that hosts it. The title evokes the distinctive female figures that inhabit Manzelli's universe: independent, untimely presences whose ambiguous yet forceful stance resists conventional roles. Her paintings reveal women who are at once fragile and defiant, often portrayed nude or semi-nude, suspended within abstract spaces rhythmically punctuated by geometric or ornamental patterns. Recurring motifs, such as the meticulously rendered heads, act as narrative devices and emotional condensations, holding together intensity, contradiction, and inner vision. Through critical essays, visual documentation, and archival materials, the catalogue offers insights into the interplay of figure and ground, visibility and withdrawal, that animates Manzelli's work. With scholarly contributions and rich visual content, Le Signorine stands as both a record of the exhibition and an essential resource on one of the most consistent and singular voices in contemporary Italian art. Developed between 2006 and 2021, it centres on the "April 7th" trial (198384), a landmark inquiry and legal case against members of the Italian leftist movement Autonomia Operaia. The project has unfolded through installations, sculptures, performances, reading groups, films, and printed matter, presented at (among many others): MAXXINational Museum of 21st Century Art, 2010; dOCUMENTA(13), Kassel, 2012; e-flux, New York, 2013; Wiels, Brussels, 2014; Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, 2024. The core of the book is the English transcription of a six-hour audio piece, originally composed from hundreds of hours of the trial's archival recordings broadcast by Radio Radicale. Edited like a theatrical script, The Trial becomes a polyphonic narrative that foregrounds the political voices of defendants in opposition to the structure and language of the legal machine: prosecutors, judges, lawyers. The transcript is accompanied by critical texts by Michael Hardt, Daniel Blanga Gubbay, and Giovanna Zapperi, as well as a conversation between the artist and philosopher Antonio Negri, one of the trial's key defendants. It investigates how political memory is carried, translated, and embodied across time.…

How are we to interpret the incessant metamorphosis of places and social relationships that has characterized urban contexts since their inception?" These questions drive Knots, a collaborative research project by the Politecnico di Milano's Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU) and Prospekt, a photojournalism agency dedicated to chronicling urban issues worldwide. By reshaping how we question urban transformations, Knots seeks to uncover overlooked dimensions of change, particularly in Milan's Scali.
