After a previous focus on questions of historiography and the archive, In Medias Res #2: Architecture in Motion continues Fluentum's ongoing investigation into the history of its grounds with a focus on its architecture and surrounding material culture, both past and present. It does so by combining form…al surveys, critical essays, artist contributions, and visual collages, dissecting the manifold layers hiding in plain sight. Central for this investigation is the idea of the palimpsest, also referenced by architects Matthias Sauerbruch and David Wegener, who give insight into their process of remodeling the former military facility to become an exhibition space. With the fundamental overlapping of times, people, but also political ideologies--its palimpsestic quality, so to speak--, the former Luftgaukommando is an emblematic site for investigating the politicization of built forms, as contributions by architecture historian Petra Kind, artist and photographer Daniel Poller, and architecture theorist Stephan Trüby make apparent. Following these attempts to formalize and categorize, the contributions by artists Julian Irlinger and Anja Kirschner allow for a necessary interrogation of the methods at play when knowledge is generated. In Medias Res #2: Architecture in Motion not only attempts to historicize and record, but raises questions about the presence of ruinous, failed ideologies-their strategies of violence, aesthetic power, and propaganda, as well as contemporary debates about their (dis)continuities in the here and now.

Focusing on "phase shifting" in music, particularly as it relates to early experiments in Minimalism and artists whose practices run from the 1960s into the present, Marfa Sounding hosted writers from many different backgrounds-composers, sound theorists, art critics, dance historians, filmmakers, educators, students, curators, and archivists-who treat performance as a point of departure for thinking through the intersection of music, minimalism, and the political. As part of this genesis, moral philosophical concepts and artists' feelings-most distinctly around compassion and inconvenience-played important parts in inserting imaginings of superiority and constellations of dominance into the core of European notions of art and taste. By deepening into the historical roots of contemporary art exhibitions, this reader examines the conditions under which what we now consider self-evident came into being.

"-Marina Vishmidt Autoreduction is a project initiated by Dora Budor at Progetto (Lecce, Italy) in the sum…mer of 2021 that began with detouring a solo exhibition onto a collaborative course to traverse the itineraries of work, leisure, and consumption in southern Italy. Conceived as a companion to the exhibition, the book features commissioned texts by Noah Barker and Marina Vishmidt, with contributions by all the artists originally participating in the exhibition (Noah Barker, Dora Budor, Michèle Graf and Selina Grüter, Niloufar Emamifar, and Ser Serpas), together with an addendum by Stefano Faoro. In "Case of Enrichment" Noah Barker assesses how the exhibition and region of Puglia instantiate what Luc Boltanski and Arnaud Esquerre have called the enrichment economy - which is characterized by the enrichment of existing things and places and modelling of the consumer on the collector. In "Why Must You Reduce Everything to Money?" Marina Vishmidt casts reduction as a political and artistic strategy; from a form of resistance developed by Italian Autonomists to its aesthetic application as a mode of refusal. Informed by the industrial history of the Salento region, which once featured a heavily feminized and militant tobacco workforce and now sees this legacy sanitized as a heritage for luxury tourism, Autoreduction rides the carousel of capital's value-forms eliciting critique and complicity in tandem.
