No Binding. Zustand: VG+. Ship was launched in 1921 byJohn Brown of Glasgow. 549 feet in length. She concentrated on the North Atlantic runs until WWII. When World War II began in September, the ship was taken over as an armed merchant cruiser in 1939, converted into a destroyer depot ship in 1944 and a submarine depot ship in 1946. She was decommissioned in 1954 and scrapped in 1958. Postally used in 1930 postmarked Montreal with a slogan postmark. Overall quite clean but some mild soiling from postal use.

Book condition - Good ; contents clean with no incsriptions. pages quite tanned, the more so towards the edges, no foxing, some minor creasing of bottom corners, staple binding with staples showing some rust but holding firm ; thin card covers with colour ilustrations front and back ; corners rubbed, and covers' edge showing some rubbing and crease marks, back clean with colour picture intact and showing good colour, slight patch of fading towards the top hinge area, back hinge rubbed but intact, spine complete but ends quite rubbed and with rubbing down spine sides, front a little dusty but no marks as such and colour illustration only a little rubbed, a central crease whiich is also reflected on the back cover ; please see photos for indications of condition and contents. I have suggested Fawcett Miller as a possibe author because the book contains a 'Daisy Dimple' story and Miller was the author of 'Daisy Dimple and Other Bedtime Stories, which has similar illustrations .However, I can find no record of this Fun on the Farm book online. Hardcover. Contents entirely maps in facsimile with explanitory text in blackletter, most maps (there are many) are doublespreads, we see no damage to these, to the singletons, or to the text leaves. Hinges of item have been strengthened neatly (indeed expertly) with document tape. Book itself is a 12x8.5 inch hardbound in brown papered boards under a Japanese-vellum backstrip which has a red label gilt-lettered and -ruled. General good shape: top rim has tiny tears, looks mildly ragged; tail-rim and spine panel are rumpled; the new hinges are obviously new but of good workmanship; we see no markings or soil, this strengthened item makes excellent renderings readily handleable.
