Comb bound. Zustand: Very Good Minus. Annie Esposito (illustrator). First printing. Very Good Minus, overall. The interior is clean and unmarked, though the wrappers are darkening. Creasing to the front wrapper and first few pages. Black and white illustrations by Annie Esposito. Unpaginated. 8.5" x 11". A parody of "culturally sensitive" educational material for children by activist Beverly Slapin. Mirroring the language and "perspective" non-Natives take in describing Indigenous cultures and identities, Slapin effectively illustrates the ridiculousness of an anthropological approach toward living peoples who ought to be telling their own stories. The note from the publisher reads: "It is important to study our Caucasian American neighbors in order to learn how they have enriched the heritage and history of all Americans. We hope that the youngsters who read these pages will realize the role that Caucasian Americans have played in shaping the United States, in making America the remarkable country that it is today." Among the workbook activities are a word search following a description of Caucasian American dwelling types, including "couch potatoes," "landlords," and "cement." The piece on food production includes a word match in which things like "animal torture," "subsidy," and "pesticides" must be matched with the appropriate method of productionagribusiness, factory farming, and supermarkets. .
