Soft cover. Zustand: Near Fine. 1st Edition. ''Under the Tudor rulers of England, Cornish tinners witnessed a great number of changes. Lode mining was replacing stream works, capital investment was increasing, controlling the tin industry was passing to the gentry. Technology was changing mining and tin dressing at a rapid pace and everywhere the traditional methods of organising and working the mines and streams was under pressure.'' This book is a study of the records, documents and manuscripts and coupled with research and visits to the sites is a comprehensive illustrated guide to a huge industry where little archaeology exists. Many of tinners and their bounds are named and are listed in the 1530s Tinners list and in the index. This book will be useful to Family historians as well as those with an interest in Cornish mining and history.
