Riproduzione xerografica in facsimile, a cura della Ranx Xerox, dell'autografo di questo giovanile poema manzoniano in quattro canti in terzine (precoce frutto di un fulgido ingegno, come dice la Pirani illustrando le vicende del manoscritto), conservato presso la Biblioteca Braidense di Milano e pubblicato originariamente postumo nel 1873 a cura del Romussi. Presentazione di Emma Pirani. Edizione numerata fuori commercio ed impressa su carta speciale (n° 797). Il poema, che risente del Monti, dell'Alfieri e del Parini, fu steso da Manzoni appena quindicenne nel 1801, all'indomani della battaglia di Marengo; in esso il poeta immagina che, dopo la Pace di Lunéville, la Libertà celebri il proprio trionfo procedendo per le vie su un cocchio dorato, "coronata di rose e di viole", affiancata dalla Pace e dalla Guerra e seguita dall'Eguaglianza e dall'Amor Patrio, dopo la cacciata delle armate austriache dal territorio italiano. Questi versi scriveva io, Alessandro Manzoni, nell'anno quindicesimo dell'età mia, non senza compiacenza e presunzione di nome di Poeta, i quali ora, con miglior consiglio e forse con più fino occhio rileggendo, rifiuto; ma veggendo non menzogna, non laude vile, non cosa di me indegna, esservi alcuna, i sentimenti riconosco per miei; i primi come follia di giovanile ingegno, i secondi come dote di puro e civile animo, dirà poi Manzoni riconsiderando retrospettivamente questa sua opera prima.
