Friz Felbermayer Blecha, an Agronomist and… Austrian engineer who lived in Chile, was an integral part of this Commission. A lover of the rapanui cuiture, Felbermayer traveled no less than 5 times to Easter Island between 1946 and 1953. During his travels, he was able to meet and share with its inhabitants, taking him to make a series of photographs (about 600) of the people, their culture and the landscapes of the place. This book is a sample of these photographs, most of which were unpublished and protected by the Fonck Museum in Viña del Mar.

Un exposémethodique de tous ce qui concernait la civilisation pascuane à la fin du XVIIe siècle et au début du XIXe (race, moeurs, politique, religion, art, etc.); 4. La première description complète de toutes les sculptures et objets d'art, exécutés tant part les Pascuans archaïque que par ceux que connurent les permiers navigateurs. Plus d'un tiers de ces objets d'art est inédit. A cette description, l'auteur ajoute un chapitre du plus ahut inteerêt, dans lequel il démontre que l'art des statuettes pascaunes n'est pas un art conventionnel, ni mortuaire, mais un art qui reproduit, avec le reealisme le plus subtil, une morphologie somatique particulière, dont la pathogénie, exposée pour la première fois, est éclairée par de récentes découvertes biologiques; 5.
