In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Very Good. First Edition. Original booklet. 4to comb bound wrappers. 13pp title page through text pages. Reproduction of topographical map of "HOPE YALE DISTRICT BRITISH COLUMBIA WEST OF SIXTH MERIDIAN." Then five (5) b/w photographic plates of proposed site in Hope, and Fraser River. Plus Appendix I: "Summa…ry of Physical, Economic, Recreational and Other Features Hope. B. C." (3pp). Text pages include Tables. The firm of P. S. Ross and Partners "was retained by the Indian Affairs Department to undertake a land-use study for the Hope Indian Reserve, on behalf of that Indian Band." This represents that study. Gives summary of proposed construction costs, and there is even a table presenting "Distribution of Single Room Rates, Summer Season" PLUS "Summary of Results of A Hotel/Motel Survery, Hope Area 1969." It gives such data as no. of establishments (27), no. of rooms (438, room rates for single occupancy ($8.44) and double ($9.73). In 1968, your bookseller and his bride, just married in Michigan, went to live in Vancouver for a year. Our last night before arrival was spent just up the river from Hope, in Boston Bar, in a $6.00 cabin! A very scarce and apparently rare economic window into a business proposal for a First Nations tribe. Very interesting. Very good condition but one leaf with creases. NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE HOPI NATION.

Ballinger Bible in Wales 26). An annotated edition of the Bible, prepared by Peter Williams, a Welsh Calvinistic Methodist, famous as an itinerant preacher. This is not only the earliest Welsh Bible issued with a commentary, but the first edition of the Bible printed in Wales. The prohibitions of the Bible-patent apparently did not apply to texts with a commentary. In 1766 Peter William began to prepare his commentary, taking as his model the English Bible, and in the same year a prospectus was issued. The work was sold in instalments, each part costing 1s., and the publication extended over four years, 1767-70. The Old Testament and the New Testament, with metrical Psalms appended, were comprised in fifteen parts, of which 8,600 copies were printed. The Apocrypha were printed last, and in a smaller number, the purchase of this section being at the subscriber's option: hence some copies omit the Apocrypha. The price of the complete work was £1. This Bible was printed for the editor by John Ross, of Carmarthen, a Scotsman who had learnt Welsh and become an active printer and publisher of Welsh books. The earliest appearance of his imprint is 1763, and it occurs as late as 1807. Morys, Rhodd. Rhist. (illustrator).
