Octavo, stapled wrappers, [36] pp. A cookbook produced by a family-owned rice enrichment company located in Crowley, Louisiana, the so-called "rice capital of the world." The recipes were all "tested with raw, long grain rice. No quick-cooking or pre-cooked type was used;" the testers were Mrs. S.L. Wright II and her daughter, who are both depicted on the first page of the book. Each recipe is accompanied by a playful cartoon illustration mimeographed from a drawing. Each recipe makes use of rice, and the book includes Louisiana recipes like shrimp jambalaya and Cajun fried chicken. A nice copy with mild toning/offsetting to wrappers.

Spiral bound. Zustand: Very good. [1], vii, 88, [2] pages and CD inside the back cover. Illustrations (many in color). This document was stated at the time as Official Use Only and Distribution was authorized to U.S. Government Agencies and private individuals or enterprises eligible to obtain export-controlled technical data in accordance with DoD 5230.25 (Oct 03). The controlling authority was the Air Force Research Laboratory at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The CD required an Acrobat Reader. The Warfighter Technology Areas addressed in this plan include: Global Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance; Command and Control; Global Information Enterprise; Space Force Enhancement; Counterspace, Space Force Application, Space Support, Expeditionary Support; Security and Protection; Warfighter Readiness; Responsive Air Operations, Integrated Striker Targeting and Connectivity, Aeronautical System Survivability, Aeronautical System Sustainment, Precision Lethal Weaponry; Alternative Effects Weaponry, and Counterproliferation Operations. The CD envelope states: The varies nature of military operations in a changing global environment requires a strong, powerful, and adaptive Air Force. Guided by the Air Force vision "Global Vigilance, Reach, and Power," The United States Air Force has shown the world its ability to assess, respond, and project powerful, synergistic and decisive effects anytime, anywhere: "Full Spectrum Dominance." To achieve this synergistic effect requires a strong Science and Technology (S&T) Program, which ensures our military forces have the combat edge provided by technologically superior military systems. the Air Force has documents its commitment to pursuing a focused, high-quality, aggressive S&T program that is responsive to the full range of capabilities required by our aerospace force in the FY 2004 Air Force S&T Plan. AFRL recognizes that to meet the Air Force's vision for the 21st century, it must provide the warfighters with the essential technology that directly enables the effects and capabilities needed to keep the United States Air Force the best in the world. this Air Force S&T Plan provides our customers, Congress, and industry an integrated picture of the Air Force's investment to achieve those technological capabilities and effects. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is a scientific research organization operated by the United States Air Force Materiel Command dedicated to leading the discovery, development, and integration of aerospace warfighting technologies, planning and executing the Air Force science and technology program, and providing warfighting capabilities to United States air, space, and cyberspace forces. It controls the entire Air Force science and technology research budget which was $2.4 billion in 2006. The Laboratory was formed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio on 31 October 1997 as a consolidation of four Air Force laboratory facilities (Wright, Phillips, Rome, and Armstrong) and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research under a unified command. The Laboratory is composed of seven technical directorates, one wing, and the Office of Scientific Research. Each technical directorate emphasizes a particular area of research within the AFRL mission which it specializes in performing experiments in conjunction with universities and contractors. Since the Laboratory's formation in 1997, it has conducted numerous experiments and technical demonstrations in conjunction with NASA, Department of Energy National Laboratories, DARPA, and other research organizations within the Department of Defense. Notable projects include the X-37, X-40, X-53, HTV-3X, YAL-1A, Advanced Tactical Laser, and the Tactical Satellite Program. The Laboratory may face problems in the future as 40 percent of its workers are slated to retire over the next two decades while since 1980 the United States has not produced enough science and engineering degrees to keep up with demand. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus.

Integrated Computer-Aided Manufacturing (ICAM) is a US Air Force program that develops tools, techniques, and processes to support manufacturing integration. It influenced the computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) project efforts of many companies. The ICAM program was founded in 1976 and initiative managed by the US Air Force at Wright-Patterson as a part of their technology modernization efforts. The program initiated the development a series of standards for modeling and analysis in management and business improvement, called Integrated Definitions, short IDEFs. The ICAM program was visionary in showing that a new approach was necessary to achieve integration in manufacturing firms. Wisnosky and Shunk developed a "wheel" to illustrate the architecture of their ICAM project and to show the various elements that had to work together. Wisnosky and Shunk were among the first to understand the web of interdependencies needed for integration. Their work represents the first major step in shifting the focus of manufacturing from a series of sequential operations to parallel processing. The ICAM program has spent over $100 million to develop tools, techniques, and processes to support manufacturing integration. The Air Force's ICAM program recognizes the role of data as central to any integration effort. Data must be common and shareable across functions. The concept still remains ahead of its time, because most major companies did not seriously begin to attack the data architecture challenge until well into the 1990s. The ICAM program also recognizes the need for ways to analyze and document major activities within the manufacturing establishment. Thus, from ICAM came the IDEFs, the standard for modeling and analysis in management and business improvement efforts. The objective of ICAM Project 812-8 was to identify effective robotic applications in aerospace batch manufacturing, establish techniques to more fully take advantage of robotic capabilities, and develop requirements for applications in a production environment. This final technical report only addresses the Task C assembly effort and related elements thereto performed on the applicability of robotic research efforts and development needs into a theoretical assembly station which could be expanded to an assembly cell that could be potentially operational by the mid-1980's. A number of aircraft assemblies amenable to robotization were identified along with the necessary internal and external assembly cell equipment requirements. Some robotic equipment has yet to be completely developed e.g., vision which generates systems limitations and constraints. The robot itself is limited in that ancillary equipment is required for assembly completion e.g., the robot must manipulate the assembly in the yoke of an external fastening device for fastener installation. These system limitations and constraints are addressed along with possible solutions. The socio-economic ramifications emanating from robotic assembly were studied with the resulting conclusion that the sociological impact could be minimized through effective implementation strategy.
