She carried the weight of the world. I carried her.

In I Carried Her, a weathered green backpack becomes the silent witness to a young girl’s life—a life marked by love, loss, resilience, and ultimately, release. From the very first day of school to tearful teenage escapes, whispered secrets, and moments of unspeakable grief, the backpack doesn’t just hold her books—it holds her burdens, her hopes, and her history.

Told from the soulful perspective of the object itself, this intimate and poignant tale invites readers into a quiet companionship that spans years of change. With each stitch and fray, the backpack reflects on its role not just as an accessory, but as a steadfast witness to a girl becoming a woman—and the powerful moment she finally lets go.

A touching meditation on memory, healing, and the objects that carry our deepest truths, I Carried Her is a tender reminder that sometimes, in order to move forward, we must release what we’ve held onto the most.
