Originally published in 1909 for the Lincoln Centenary, this brief biography is dependent on previous biographies by some of the luminaries in the field and thus is an adequate condensation of the available evidence at the time. Brand Whitlock [1869-1934] was an American journalist, attorney, politician, ambassador to Belgium [1919-1921], and author of numerous articles and books, both novels and non-fiction.
